Here's some pics of my modles.

I haven't seen most of them since I moved into the house, because they're packed away in storage.

I know some of the pics suck, but I don't feel like digging them out and taking more pics, besides, my wife would shoot me, she's trying to clean the house...

Edit: the only ones that are Die-Cast are the Roadster, the red Pickup, and the big red Firebird that realy isn't that visible. I point these out because I don't care for them. I think half the fun in building a modle is the paint job. And most, if not all Die-Cast modles come Pre-Painted.

All the rest were painted by me ether using the Testor's Air Brush, or an actual automotive Spray Gun (The Blue Chevelle and KITT)

The only model I remember attempting was the Stealth Fighter/Bomber, which I tried to do in my teens. For some reason I still had the parts that made up the travesty of my attempt until just a couple of months ago when I finally admited to myself that I was never, ever going to go back and try and finish it. Sure, I could probably do better now, but it was beyond salvation.

I'd have to say that I particularly like KITT, but the rest all are very impressive.

im diggin the gundams wierdo, i just recently sold off my 1/60 and 1/100 collection to fund the new saber hobby, the gundams were cool enough but too static a hobby after finding sabers that i can actually play around with and constantly re-mod...

firebird, what scale is your KITT? ive only been able to find 1/25 scale sets, would love to know where to get an 8th or 16th scale

Firebird21
10-17-2006, 12:39 PM
It's 1/25th. That's the only one I've ever seen, and if I find something else, I'm gonna jump all over it! :D

I actually have 3 KITTs.
The first one was the first modle I ever built...
And it looks like it too...

The second one is the one you see there. That's from when they re-relised it.

The third is another origonal production still in the box that I found at a car show a couple of years ago.

you'll apreciate this one firebird, ive still got 2 circa 80's kitt playsets, the large car with michael knight 7 inch figure, car has an old voice box and runs on 3 AA's and says lines from the series when you pull down the lic. plate in the back, one boxed and one loose... have the comunicator watch and a few other odds and ends as well, but the kitts are undoubtably among my fav collectables!

BTW do you remember what year model TA was used in the series? i saw years ago someone that remade a series correct KITT out of a mid 80's car and would love a project like that to take on...

Firebird21
10-18-2006, 01:57 PM
I used to have one of those cars...

I took it apart...

The actual KITT was an '82 Firebird GTP (supposedly w/ Twin Turbos).

But I'm sure they used any black Firebird they could get their hands on to beat the snot out of.

jjshumpert
10-19-2006, 08:34 AM
on the show it was supposed to have some sort of turbine engine by the tone of it, but it was all sound effects. to my knowledge there has only been one actuall production turbine car and that was in the 50's and i believe built by general motors, looked something like an early impalla 2 door with a batman esque turbine discharge in the rear valance... but cost around 20 grand at the time to build so was written off as a concept only and abandoned. ive seen one and its pretty sharp, has a note pretty close to the sound effects used on knight rider

Firebird21

You're right, it was a Turbine Engine. My bad.

Here's a couple of links for more info.

Well for $50,000 this (http://www.markscustomkits.com/turnkey-cars.htm)is as close as you're likely to get.

And the price seems to go up every 6 months.

When I first found that sight about 5yrs. ago it only cost $30,000.

Thanks, the Case is an Ikea 2 Level Cabinet that I modified by adding a second row of Glass Shelves in each section, I use also use their bookcases for my SW & ST Collectables since I wanted all of my display cases(wall to wall) to match.

why yes ryma that would be a macross vf-1j valkyrie...
man i love that series

that little beauty is a hasegawa 1/72 battroid kit, its about 7 inches tall with something like 30 points of articulation, and around 170 parts in the kit. best 30 bucks ive spent in the last few months. ive been working on this one for about 2 weeks, it took a few hours to assemble, around a day to do the panel line etching, and ive still got somewhere around 150 waterslide decals to put on. alot of work but im really lookin forward to the finished products. now if i could just find a glaug and battle pods to go along...

Very nice jjsumpert. I had one back when I was younger, It was a big one too. Not sure of the scale of it though.
