i dont see the right options for that on the builder page, but its in the little flash link on the main page. i just love that design. are there different emitter switches though?[/img]

The hilt you see pictured is just end cap style 5, double threaded hilt style1, ribbed section and Screw on LED blade holder style 1. The picture is just what it would look like if you used a sink tube over top of the MHS parts. Hope that clears something up for you.

EDIT: Wow I suck at spelling.

It does require some cutting with either a dremal(sp?) or a hacksaw. If your making sabers I suggest that you invest in a dremal(sp?), it is a life saver.

The sink tube is the whole curved part... it'd be linked in the back.

well i was just gonna order this thing from here, is that not possible?

ti-el_terall

As I said, you can order all the parts needed here in the shop, but the sink tube would have to be cut in order to look the way it does in the pic.

The idea is to build your own saber.

lol i know, but this design...its just so perfect

http://thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/scripts/build.asp?cblade=1

does that look right?

also, how do i get that design on the hilt itself? is that what you were talking about with the dremel?

last question i think, how long are the normal blades? 36"?

Um... we can't tell. Here, I'll make a pic for you...

*hold on for a minute*

EDIT:
Here ya go:

You'll need to ask Tim to machine down the emitter section so it fits under the hilt. As you can see, it's slightly thicker than the hilt sections.

You forgot the ribbed section. When you get a sink tube you use the dremel to cut out the pieces of the sink tube.

Thoto
10-10-2006, 08:37 PM
wow im lost now. the emitter nightwing pictured looks nothing like whats in the picture as far as i can tell...also, back to this dremel thing, are you talking about cutting the pattern out of it so its got a huge gap it in and you see the hilt underneathe?

ti-el_terall
10-10-2006, 08:38 PM
Yep. What nightwing posted is whats going to be under the sink tube.

wow, what a difference..theres no way i could do that dremel myself, im 16, so who would i see about doing it?

Lord Maul

your dad or just practice a bunch on junk metal to get the hang of dremeling

Strydur

I havent changed it yet but the led blade holder style1 does not need to be machined down anymore, it is the same size as the hilt.

...Or you could send a Private Message to certain members here (myself included) that have super mad-skills with a Dremel and could whip something like that out in short order, for a minimal fee, of course.

Why would being 16 prevent you from using a dremel?

Would YOU trust any random 16 year old with a power tool? I wouldn't, although my dad did. It's also possible he's referring to the fact that they're expensive and he doesn't have enough money to buy one.

Thoto
10-11-2006, 12:06 PM
i dont think id be able to get it that neat mainly, but yes, cost does have somthing to do with it.

pawn shops have dremmels pretty cheap... just need to look... or even harbor freight.. being 16 should not stop you..

You won't ever get the skill if you don't practice. Heck sink tubes are pretty cheap. Buy up a few from the store and practice. Maybe you will come out with something unique that you like better. That is what we all are doing. We just keep trying different things and see if we like it or not. Sometimes it works out sometimes you scrap it. You learn from your mistakes, and by my count that makes me the samrtest person in the world.

I should really buy a dremel someday.

great price for a very nice tool!!
it's the one I have......

Oooo, very good price, sounds good, it's been good for you? Durable, reliable, etc?

I got my no name dremle for $15 Canadian. It will work for saber making and such and mine uses the Dremel bits and accesorys. If you look you probably can find one for a bout $30.

if i ordered everything from here, how would i make it in http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i212/Thoto1/darksaber.jpg
that color? i would also want sound, preverably from a vader fx.

I havent changed it yet but the led blade holder style1 does not need to be machined down anymore, it is the same size as the hilt.Hmm... now I'm gonna have to go alter my old images again.

Y'know, it'd be great if we had an "advice forum" made specifically for newbies (not N00Bs) to make their own threads for other saber experts to answer. Of course, we'd need some rules to ensure that we wouldn't get a ton of stupid threads, but still.

That sounds like exactly what you'd get... And I think it would be a great place to contain them all...

The problem is that they would not post there. If they read enough to know to post there, they would know enough to know how to find the answer to the stupic Q. they had...

You kidding?!

I even lost myself on that one...

Lord Maul

but still, it would be nice to just contain all the stupid threads in there and then like move other stupid ones that people post elsewhere

Did you futz with the color? Otherwise it's just a reflection being rendered. there are topics for polishing stuff here. Aluminum doesn't accept plating well... so you'd probably polish it then anodize it. That is not a process I'd recommend for doing at home though.

Nightwing
10-18-2006, 06:16 PM
Yeah, he made it darker.

Thoto
10-21-2006, 06:54 PM
made it so the sink tube was just a tad bit darker than the hilt itself. personally i think it looks alot better.

xwingband
10-21-2006, 07:01 PM
It's going to look different anyway. The chromed tube will be a lot different from the aluminum to start with.

Thoto
10-21-2006, 07:15 PM
how would i go about getting sound on it, preferably from a 05 vader esb fx? its kind of a necessity heh.

Lord Maul

ebay is the key
tim only sells luke rotj sound cards but he might have a few vaders lying around somewhere - pm him for further answers

Thoto

well i know where to get em, i was just wondering how to install them into a custom hilt. like do i drill holes into the end cap, etc.

xwingband

like do i drill holes into the end cap, etc.

Yes, and since that's the rounded one you should get access to someone witha drill press. You would not want to do that with a hand drill.

For wiring it's just like a conversion. The only difference is you are changing it for your switch and batteries.

Ryma Mara
11-21-2006, 08:46 PM
Prolly the best way to drill it out is thru the outside instead of the inside.

xwingband
11-21-2006, 08:48 PM
If you want to be sure to not hit threading and the side wall, yup.
