for the opening and closing effect that the corbins board. with tims complete blades. or do you have to have corbins special film on the inside of the blade?

You don't have to, but the effect is greatly diminished. Without it it's a slow dim.

ok so it might be better just to get the mhs kit and forget the corbins board if i cant get the special film? cause i am not gonna hook up sound for this saber.

I would... it's better than having no up/down, but Corbin's film really is needed to get the full potential.

If mine wasn't out of commision for the adding of sound I'd get a vid of the difference...

Corbin's board is a bit too wide for the MHS, but there is about 1/32" on each side of the board that is bare and can be sanded away and then the board will slip right in.

In my one MHS-based saber, I just used some 160 grit sandpaper on a sanding stick to gently sand away the offensing material and the board went in with no problems and works perfectly. You can see the traces on the board that you need to stay away from. Not hard...just takes patience.

Yup, once sanded it actually works out brilliantly as then it's in there solid. You don't have to worry about securing it because it won't flop around. :D

i have never gotten corbins board but arent computer chips made out of silicon. and ive heard somewhere that the fumes emited from sanding or filing silicon are toxic.

Perhaps if you were doing tons but it's only like 1/16" of an inch. Didn't smell funky as I remember it.

yes, silicon is a great semi-conducter and is cheap so they use it on chips

Pyle

Silicon is used to create electrical junctions to create circuits to be combined into a chip. The packaging that they are incased in (the case on the device is not made of silicon and varies acording to the application)
So when you sand on a chip all you really are doing is sanding the case that houses the tiny silicon chip inside. The fumes from a burnt device (the case of it) is not too healthy to breath, but again it is the the case you smell and not the silicon chip. You would need a high powered microscope to get a really good look at the silicon chip and it would have to be one that has not been installed in a case.
