Just wanting some clarification. Does the new resistor in the shop (here) http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/25mA-DynaOhm-Variable-Resistor--P847.aspx mean that all you have to is wire it to say a Illuminated AV switch and be good to go? No need to calculate a resistor value at all?

That is the idea, yes. I noticed the description for the unit changed today from 20ma to 25ma (this unit is made in 20ma, 25ma and 30ma versions).

At 20ma, one of these for one lighted switch LED is fine (albeit very bright). At 25ma for a single LED, you may risk damaging the LED (depends on if it can handle 25ma). You would likely still add a resistor to adjust the LED brightness OR wire several LEDs in parallel to share the 25ma (which gives you more greble bling).

I had ordered the 20mA but got 25mA which is why it changed in the store all of a sudden.. I contacted everyone who had ordered prior to the fix.. in the future they will be the 20mA version as I wanted.

Most folks ordered them this first time to experiment with anyway, so it should be fine now that they know. The joys of stocking new products!

Does it also work with main led and standard battery set up? I was about to ask this question until I saw this thread. I think it would be helpful if you don't really know your wiring that well and don't know which right resistor to get.

There is one for the main LED.. its called a Buckpuck.
