As you might gather by the title I am new to the world of sabers. I am looking at buying a complete saber by US for my first one, but I want to a d-ring to attach it to my belt. The absolute best option I have seen for doing this is the MPS insert style 12 (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-insert-style-12-P535.aspx). I am pretty sure the following combination will create a pommel that is MHS compatible but I wanted to be sure.

It would be the MPS insert style 12 (www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-insert-style-12-P535.aspx) + MPS Pommel style 2 (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-Pommel-style-2-P89.aspx) + MPS Clip (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-Clip-P72.aspx)

Would this work? If I wanted to later could I replace the D-ring with a larger one, seeing as the major complaint (that I am concerned with) is that it hangs at a weird angle?

Thanks for helping the noob! I'm really getting the bug and want to build my next one from scratch using the stuff at TCSS.

All of the MPS pommels are part of the MHS so any combination should work just fine. As far as the D-Ring if You can remove that one Im sure you could add a bigger one, but I dont have any experience with the D-Rings.

Those 3 pieces will work together. ;) I just am not sure if they will fit with a US saber...

First of all, welcome to the Forums TexasJedi! As the other guys have already said, those 3 pieces and most other combos will work fine within the MHS system. Just make sure that whatever you're planning on adding this to is MHS compatible as well!

As far as I know, US does not use any kind of inserts on their pommels, since they make them themselves. While they are MHS compatible, that means they can be screwed into MHS parts, and MHS pommels can be screwed into US hilts (in theory, there have been incidents where this was not the case).

As far as your plans go, the pommel insert will not work, as US makes their pommels with slitted bottoms, not open with inserts available. Your best bet is to buy an MHS pommel to use that insert, or drill and tap a hole to mount the d ring on the side of your saber.

I think that's the plan, actually...

It would be the MPS insert style 12 (www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-insert-style-12-P535.aspx) + MPS Pommel style 2 (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-Pommel-style-2-P89.aspx) + MPS Clip (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-Clip-P72.aspx)

In this case, as long as your US hilt will support a new MHS pommel and it won't cause issues with the internals, then yes it should work fine.

Thanks for the help all! I am indeed planning on ordering a new pommel to go with the insert. Worst case: it doesn't fit and it won't break the bank. Just thought I would get the information I can beforehand.

Also, welcome from a fellow Texan. You'll like it here. They're pretty okay, for non-Texans.

My opinion: Chuck that MPS and stick with the original and best MHS
