Since this is new I'd like to say this will be fun. I know you all like to make costumes to go with your sabers. :)

I'll be moving some established threads here. I'd like to keep certain costumes all in one thread. That makes them a nice resource and keeps it clean.

Have fun, if you want to make thread on a certain characer please just make the title clear.

Is it permissible to solicit items here? IE, I need an accurate Anakin glove, can I ask for someone to make one to sell me?

I would say just post to ask and then go to PM or email from there.

I see no reason to be like the TFN costume nazi.

That is of course if the boss is cool with it.....How 'bout it Tim?

At some point Tim is looking to have some decent costume stuff to sell as well as parts:)

In the case of costumes until Tim has an offering for what you are looking for it's cool. That's my thoughts at least and Tim can say for sure.

I would say that don't create threads "I need this!?!?!". Just state "I'm looking for this, please PM me." Half the reason TFN is a nazi about it is because they are one of the largest forums on the internet (they rank in the top 10) and that puts them under scrutiny of licensed prop makers.

If you go and state in the open "I can make that for you." That's a recipe for a C&D from them and possibly getting Tim in some problems he doesn't need.

Sister_Sola is not a "nazi", she has certain rules that she must see are followed, just like the moderators of that forum before her. The Force.net is a very public website, and the LFL "spies" are there all the time, so they need to keep their butts covered over there about unlicensed replicas.

It's also important to cut down on redundant threads, so that topics can be found. Don't be insulted that the one you started got locked, you were referred to the proper thread.

She's actually a very nice and gracious lady. Maybe you think her power goes to her head, maybe it does a little. But give her the benefit of the doubt.

Ok, first off, Don't assume a damn thing cause you would be wrong. When I posted that I knew it would get locked just like every other GD thing on there, While I understand the logic of why they put her friggin costume in the handmaiden section, I would of at least put in a pointer to the topic in Amidala's section of the index. So that has not a damn thing to do with it, I got my info so I could give a **** where the topic goes. Unlike some people while I may start a topic every once in a while I do not "own it" once the submit button is pushed, it belongs to the board.

With that said, I have been using that term for quite a while now and if she is a friend of yours and I have offended well I am offended by the fact that freedom of speech seems to come to a dead end on there.
Maybe it is because I haven't spent a lot of years on a bunch of forums and that is a normal way to do things but the last time I checked this is the United States of America and that means a person has the right to express themselves.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Sometimes people disagree, that's life. I oppose the fact that someone can just up and scratch something that another person has to say. We are human, we make mistakes, WE ARE NOT PERFECT! I don't need anyone dictating to me what I can or can not say, hear or read. I have put my foot in my mouth before and I will damn sure do it again because I have the luxury granted to me by those that came before me.

In my opinion the rules tend to be applied selctivly on TFN, some can get away with everything while others get a smack for almost nothing. I no longer read or post at TFN (long story).

Ok... so... I've *NEVER* been big on costuming. In fact... all throughout my performance history, I've simply been SOOOOOOooooo grateful to my costumers, you have no idea. This means way before BOP I or anything at all like that. I've NO gift for costuming or anything like that. In fact, it was APPALLING how badly I did in the (required) costuming / hair classes I had to take during the course of studying performance/film/theatre in college. It was a travesty, you have no idea. Especially on the hair aspect. God. CAN... NOT... DO... THIS... ... I... SUCK sooooooo bad. :D

Anyhow. Nova needs some help!!!... if anyone can point me in the right direction... I didn't really know WHAT to search for with the TCSS search engine, sooo...

* I'm lookin' for basic jedi costumes/robes for young kids (6 to 13)
* I would also like to see what "custom" folks have to offer... in order to upgrade/append/replace the jedi-style and darkside-style costumes I have for myself
* The costumes would (in general) need to be ideal for stage/live performances (i.e. not super hot wool-material, nothing to trip on or rip during a backflip or b-twist, lol)

Also, if it's not obvious yet... I wouldn't need any fancy details like special belts or covertec clips or "screen accuracy" or whatever. Not even boots, as... I have what I need that lend themselves to performance (thus far).

Thanks in advance if anyone knowledgeable can help! I will go "devil's advocate" on people right now and mention: if you've never seen the BOP shows or you don't know who I am and what I'm about regarding the saber-stuff... you probably can't help me! :D Probably.

Just sayin' it, in case someone is like: "search ebay", lmao...

Hiya Nova,

If you go to any of the Jo-Anne Fabrics/Micheal's type stores and ask in the patterns department, they have patterns for both adult and children size Jedi outfits. They are basic patterns that you buy for $5-$10 (last I looked) and they can be whatever material you choose, you just have to make them. I don't think they have any 'Sith' patterns, but the standard Jedi pattern could just be made with black material I guess. If you were looking for someone to make 'em for you, 'Speedy Stitches' (ebay store) makes all size and quality of Jedi & Sith costumes. The better quality wool stuff gets costly, but the lower end stuff is way cheaper and they do complete outfits, robes included.

Good luck :)

There is a pattern out there that is great for making simple jedi robes after you change it up a little...

I'll find it in a minute...

Hey Nova :)

If you want a good quality seamstress, the one who did my gear (primarily for live performances and stage combat) goes by the name of Ladysewforus :)

http://www.ladysewforus.com/

My costume is the 'short samuri kimono' in the gallery ;)

If you want rugged gear that doesnt like falling apart (easily anyways ;) that is generic for an adult, the ebay store Costumebase isnt too bad. For the soft parts anyways, their pouches are horrible :S

Also you will most likely find most of the good patterns for a jedi are hard to find, due to C&D's, however there are some 'near enough' patterns in the Simplicity and McCalls that can be modified to suit.. :)

Thanks everyone... and Alcfa, I wouldn't know what a "pouch" is--at least for a jedi costume. I have bought some materials from costumebase before though--I think it was for the "Maul"-ish costume I have.

But yeah... I'm REALLY bad with costuming stuff. Some people may not understand me about this, but... I just have no idea what is going on. Sewing boggles my mind, and I don't understand a lick of anything with it. It's not for lack of trying. As I mentioned. Still... I really hate costuming anyhow, and it's my least favorite part of doing shows (let alone BOP)... so... yup, I just assume get it into the hands of those who know.

Again... thanks--if anyone else has suggestions, please feel free. Just make sure to read my initial post first, thanks!!

Hey. I am planning on making a Clone Wars styled Jedi costume this week. Anyone got any patters for, lets say the costume Anakin wore just as a reference? Thanks for the help. Will post pics when its completed.

All the Jedi had different styled outfits, many also had some armor pieces. And they weren't the same as their regular Jedi outfits.

There aren't really any definitive patterns for these costumes, plus the fact that they need to be imagined from cartoon characters and made to fit the real human form. Most people just wing it, or make their own patterns.

Plan on this taking more than a week.

Here's some examples of Clone Wars Anakin costumes:
