Rank names

Okay, there are plenty of features to come. One is we need to replace the old ranking system based on post counts.

The old one's were: Initiate, Padawan, Knight, Master and Lord.

Anyone have suggestions for better ones?

i think in like my case being a vader instead of just Lord it should say Sith Lord. just a thought, dont have to if you dont want to, its ok as is, just thought it would be cooler for it to say Sith Lord under my avatar.

So I guess my first question is will the custom titles still be an option? We could stick with the old title group which was fine. I would say that if your going to split Jedi/Sith then a more appropriate title for a Jedi would be Council or something along those lines. Jedi never really considered themselves lords.

If the custom titles are still in play then I say give the Brotherhood "elite" the Sith Lord Titles.

You could go all out and give titles based an alliances. That would be alot of work I guess but it would be neat to have Jedi, Sith, Rebels, Imperials, etc.

OH I know! you can add some KOTOR flair to it and go Initiate,Padawan,Knight,Guardian,Sentinal,Counsler ,Master...
Any thoughts on that?

i think that we should have something in our profile that says what our preferences are, for example you have a choice of sith lord, jedi master, or like bounty hunter. and when you click them it saves it and everytime you post, the background on your post is red for sith blue for jedi and white for bounty hunter and instead of just having ranks that dont do anything we can have something where once you get to a certain number of posts, you can actually buy stuff with the amount of posts you have made and with the buying the stuff you can get stuff to customize your profile. how bout that?

10-99 posts: Padawan
100-199 posts: Knight - 5th class
200-299 posts: Knight - 4th class
300-399 posts: Knight - 3rd class
400-499 posts: Knight - 2nd class
500-599 posts: Knight - 1st class
600-999 posts: Master
1000-??? posts: Lord

Once again, that's just off the top of my head. You could probably do some alliance stuff at the master or Lord ranks. Maybe "Master of Light" or "Sith Lord". Too bad Jedi don't have ranks past master...
I suppose you could just add the class ranks to the master category as well...

i like that idea. keepin the ones we had, but just adding a few more to it. and of course as james said, after master there would be the sithlord title too.

it would be a lil work but we could help in that for determining titles and affiliations by posting another thread just for the purpose of gettin this sorted out, and ask what affiliation and SW type you wish to follow.

example:

Brotherhood of the sith, (affiliation)
and
type, Sithlord

oh, and also have the bounty hunters,

like,

affiliation bounty hunters,

type, mandalore

Make everyone happy and give them custom titles. let them choose it in the profile, and have either html or bbc code enabled to let them have pictures, limit that to like 130x20 pxls though. then you can keep post counts titles similar, up to master, and they can add whatever affiliated title they want.

I will have to disagree with yall wanting to open up custom titles to everyone. I have been thinking about it for a couple days now and there is room for all the regulars to get custom titles but it has to come in the right time. All the guys that have the customs pretty much got 'em for a reason. No matter how I try to get it out there it sounds elitist and lord knows that is not what it to be taken as. I like that guys got their "call signs" based on there personality. Let's keep it that way.

Ultimately it is Tim's decision. We are just throwing out ideas and in the end there may be nothing at all. We will just have to keep throwing out ideas and xwing or Tim will let us know what's up;)

reduce the number of ranks to clump more members together and then just let the staff assign "custom" or "other" titles as they see fit. That is similar to what I do at my site. All members progress along a short list of ranks and recieve custom titles as seems appropriate to acknowledge a contribution, character trait, or whatever.
Has worked smoothly for us for over three years now......

How bout something like this, which I like, but more generalized. The affiliation such as jedi or sith could be chosen with the person's profile and the two could go together such as:

Sith
Grandmaster

It's not perfect, but it might suffice...

I agree with this type but the numbers should be at least doubled or even tripled because everyone on here has such high post(whore) counts that at 500 over 50% of people would be Grand Masters, and realisticly(well as realistic as you can get in our own little worlds) there wouldnt be that many Grand Masters. There also (if at all possible)should be three different routes( minimum) on this: Jedi, Sith, Non-denominational. It could possibly be done by choosing your alignment in your profile. None would just give generic ranks. And Staff Mods should just have Custom Ranks....one of the perks of werkin fer nuttin...Again all of our sugestions are all based upon what tim and X can do with the program......

To get one you have to do something beyond the ordainary poster. Examples: Mi Gin Gonn created a song for TCSS, thus he is the "Master of the Tune". Those in the brotherhood are "Sith Lords" because they've made the large thread I've ever seen on building a costume of Darth Vader.

It goes beyond wanting some random name you happen to like. If you have to ask for it I probably won't give it. That's means nothing and would get out of hand. To bring a SW analogy it's like squadron callsigns. They are rarely assumed, almost always given based on you or something you've done.

TCSS nicknames will still be special, random names that fit the person.

Creating "Usergroups" will give you a second ranking under your screen name that says what group you're in.

As far as that I have no idea what the Usergroups do. They're ether just a list of names with special rankings or ability and the groups identify them, or it's elite forums that are by invitation only.

How about a squadron of A-wings and call it Blue Squadron? That would fit right into the genre since there were A-wings in use during all 3 of the New Jedi movies, if memory serves me properly. A-wings are FAST, agile, and heavily armed. I like that in a fighter ship. I'd like to be Blue Leader, but any position is OK

X-Wings and A-Wings generally work in tandem, usually within the same squad. No competition there at all. Using its impressive straight-line acceleration and advanced jamming package, A-wings were able to hit targets before they could respond, and then flee before any defense could be organized. A group of X-wings would approach an Imperial convoy, hiding A-wings in their drive exhaust. The X-wings would then pull away, diverting attention away from the speedy A-wings, which would launch HM-6 concussion missiles against the convoy and pull away.


As I said before, heavily armed.

Armament:

Borstel RG-9 laser cannons (2) per wing capable of 60 degree turns, in the Class II version these are capable of 360 turns
Dymek HM-6 concussion missile launchers (2) with 6 missiles each (standard load) Each concussion missile featured an armor-piercing tip that penetrated a target's hull before igniting the missile's compact energy pack. The impact would trigger the missile's warhead, which like proton torpedoes, was either nuclear or thermonuclear in nature. A concussion missile did not necessarily need to impact in order to detonate, however, some could be set to explode at a preset proximity to the target. In atmosphere, the missile created a deafening sonic boom and caused major damage to the surrounding area.

Sure, why not? I mean, one destroyed Darth's flagship, the "super" Star Destroyer, in Ep.VI...something else should be considered, though. Are we talking about the EpIV Death Star ("That's no moon.."), or the Ep.VI one, that was "fully operational", despite it's looking like a partially eaten piece of fruit?
