I've seen some people using the rechargeable pack in the store in there sabers and putting a recharge port on them. (Awsome idea!)

My question is, what are you guys using for a charger, (correct amperage, voltage, ect.) and where do you get them?

I use this one, its great because of its adaptability. I've made a custom battery pack and it works well because of the adjustable voltage and current. I also use it with Tim's pack.

I was wondering that myself...

Is anyone using just a wall plug charger? Like something you'd get with your cell phone or something.

I think it would be cool to mount the charger into a stand, like the wall mount or something, that way when you put the saber on the stand it charges it.

You'd obviously need a charger that can shut its self off, or you'd risk exploding the batteries from overcharging.[xx(]

If you use a 12 volt 50 ma wall transformer it would work well with the battery pack that Tim sells. It would require overnight to recharge but you would not have to worry about stressing the battery pack.

Do-Clo, how do you know this stuff?

All's I know is bad things happen when you mess around with charging batteries.[xx(]

What's the difference between charging NmHi and NiCa? (I think I've got those right...) I have a Radio Shack charger with a setting for each and it says it's bad to use the wrong one...

Remeber Firebird I am a Tech. The big difference between nicad batteries and nimh batteries is that the nicad will build up a memory effect if they are not run all the way down before recharging, and the nimh does not have this broblem. The nimh also have a higher current rating than the nicad. Your charger would work on either setting on either battery. The only battery that requires a different charger is the Lion battery, big adavantage for this one is high current small space, these are commonly used on cell phones due to their small size.

Yeah, the universal ones like the link do both NiCD and NiMH. I believe Cadiums are good at high draw applications where size isn't a biggie... like power tools.

Maybe I should get one of these puppies. With doing these 5w sabers I am using 9 and 12 volt AA/AAA packs and I could see even my wonderful Sam's Club Specials getting to costing me.

Who was it that found the AA/AAA recharge batteries sold individually?

James, everything you'd need can be found on the link above. You'd need a different charger (obviously) but if you want AA's there are some very high capacity ones as well.
