Ok I got my armor to make Commander Deviss

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b252/tazrob/CommanderDeviss.jpg

The Armor is extremely rough, but since I got it from a fellow garrison member and is was cheap I am not complaining at all it will turn out great

I'm Dyin' to make a clone trooper as opposed to a TK! I'm in the 501st and I'm working on a TR now. Any chance you could pm me the source for the kit? Much appreciated!

Would rough refer to the edges or is there something else I can't see from the pics? The edges seem wavy...

It is nice to see a clone trooper. There is a lot more in the paint for that costume than a "clean" TK.

<center>Read the FAQ (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=552) or x-wing won't be happy. :(
Before posting did you check the Thread Index (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=577)?.

<font size="3"><font color="blue">Wow, that looks like a lot of work to trim, fit and sand all those pieces, before painting them.[:0]

It ought to be cool, once it's finished though. </font id="blue"></font id="size3"> [:)]

In order to see the Light, you must sometimes risk the Dark.

I started cutting the pieces down today and yes it is ALOT of work, cutting and sanding and trimming and sanding again but nothing worth having is easy [:D] and if it turns out the way I think it will it will be very worth having.

Hey Bud,
what did it end up costing you, if you don't mind me asking?
I was thinking about a trooper costume of some sorts down the road, I have seven other vaders in my Garrison, so having a trooper outfit I thought, would be a good idea. 8) :D

BTW: VERY SWEET! 8) :D

Once I get the Pieces cut out I plan on taking another shot of all the armor laid out then I will start posting pics of it going together. Cutting it out is a little harder than I expected as there is no guide as to where to cut but I am making small cuts test fitting then cutting off more as needed.

This is the BFG I ordered for my clone armor

Great setup But I dont remember the 501st (the blue color scheme) having anyone looking like that. Appo and then Bow both looked like their men.

The pauldron that the guy has looks like it is one of nyghtcraft's but is not included in auction that is a $270.00 part on its own.

Good luck guys, looks great

Is there a site for him or is he 501st only?

I am blown away by the options on how to do a blaster carbine.

The colors are 501st (movie 501st not costuming 501st, lol)
except for this and some custom figures, I have not seen the coloring used in a commander before. But you would have to imagine that they are out there all the other unit commanders look like that except Thire (red shock trooper from above) and appo and Bow (the blue 501st commanders)

Anyway looking at other members of my garrison that have done the clone costume I am working on the helmet seems to stand tall to me so I am in the process of getting this

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b252/tazrob/clone1pr6.jpg

Everyone believes it to be a MR recast and recasting is frowned apon but Devil made a good point to me, The is MR stuff it aint like you are recasting off of one of your fellow costumers

Hasbro will be releasing a Appo figure that looks that, minus the kama. I thought it was dumb to have the commanders look the same has his troops, how do they know which one he is?

The figure can be seen here (http://www.hasbro.com/starwars/default.cfm?page=news&newsID=69DE43A1-D56F-E112-450BB251AB4FA030) (keep scrolling).

Sorry Taz, I was referring to nyghtcraft's stuff. was wonering if he had a site or only sold within the 501st.

Your getting that bucket? Lucky Duck! I agree with Devil, recasting MR ain't quite like doing it to your fellow troopers.

xwingband
09-14-2006, 10:37 AM
Don't go saying that at some sites though... like the RPF. Recasting is recasting to them. If it's available from the original source then it's not kosher. The only times recasting "official" sources is really accepted is when they don't produce it anymore like a lot of the Don Post helmets.

Despite MR's quality control delays... you can technically get helmets from them.

tazrob
09-14-2006, 10:46 AM
Well in that case then it is kinda still cool as you wait for years to get one from MR, lol but I know where you are coming from xwing.

I believe the site for the pauldron is http://www.ashtonomicon.com
He sells to anyone but if you are 501st you can get stuff added to the pauldrons, TK ids and Cogs

james3
09-14-2006, 10:48 AM
can't argue with that either. I would think they would have less of a problem with someone buying a recast then whoever was malking them though.

Blue all the way! Definitely my favorite. I like the battle scarred look of the clones, but it would be nice if someone would make a clean, scratch-free version like the stormtroopers I always see.

Funny that you sat that DS. The wife was saying the same thing last night. Her thoughts were to do a clean TC and TK at the same time since it looked to her as though alot of the armor pieces look the same. I'm not so sure about that and Taz I know you can clear that one up, but hey, if we can do 2 for the price of 1ish, I am for it.

tazrob
09-16-2006, 07:40 AM
Unfortunatly not one of the pieces are the same between the TK and the TC major differances in all the pieces. I have a troop I am getting ready for but when I get home or tomorrow I will take some pics of the 2 sets together. The main differance is that the Clone has many more angles to it and the storm is more rounded, but size wise they are different and shape wise the pieces are different. Sorry James but if you want one of each you have to do 2 different sets. DS I have seen a couple of the clean EP2 clones around but as far as a clean EP3 there weren't many as the war took its toll on everyoone in the starwars universe :P :P :P

Oh this friggin rocks!

So can anyone explain to me what happened with that auction? Cause I am seriously ticked off. I totally was going to bid $1000, but when I went to do so on Sat evening it was already over that a little bit. Then I go see what it ended at on Sun and it's at $900. WTF?! How can the price drop more than $100 on the last day? I can't imagine it was a simple case of the high bidder backing out, because he couldn't have been $100+ over the next bidder. My hopes and dreams of being a clone commander have been shattered, and I'm not happy about it.

xwingband
09-19-2006, 07:45 AM
I'm not sure how it works but I bet the winner had been bidding in increments to try to find the current high bidders ceiling. When he backed out it dropped back down to his first bid before the others bid was retracted. That leaves the large amount of bids at the same amount and the drop. It sucks though, because I am suprised it went for that low.

Devilstar2k2
09-19-2006, 07:45 AM
Sounds like shill bidding to me... The seller pulled his high bid when he realized that it wasn't going any higher. That way, he didn't win his own auction.

EDIT-

Xwing, I don't think eBay allows bid retraction anymore unless its mutually agreed on by both seller, and bidder, for anything other than typos. What you described would most definitely upset the seller. Thats what makes me think that it was being shilled.

xwingband
09-19-2006, 07:53 AM
I'm not sure since I've never sold on ebay. Shilling is pretty low though.

james3
09-19-2006, 07:53 AM
Yeah

I missed the end of it since we were running around. and I thought there may be a bit of something going on but figured I would jump in at the last few minutes. When I saw the closing price I about choked. The wife just patted me on the back with the I'm sorry look and said "well, now I guess you have to build it huh?" That's why I keep her

ryanlb
09-19-2006, 08:04 AM
Well, if it was the seller shilling, then he deserves the loss, but if it wasn't, somebody cheated him out of me buying it. I always wanted to be a clone, I got white saber hilts for just that reason. I guess I'll just have to stick with Anakin.

(Side note, on that note, does anyone know off the top of their head if the 501st accepts Anakin costumes with black (tabbards, belt, boots and tunic) instead of brown? Don't look it up for me, I'm working on that, just if you happen to aleady know.)

james3
09-19-2006, 08:06 AM
I already know it's a no. There can be no black on ROTS Anakin for 501st.

I will dig it up for ya if you want.

ryanlb
09-19-2006, 08:08 AM
No, that's alright. That sucks, as my costume is mostly black, and I wanted to get Anakin style black boots (smokespoon on ebay).
Oh well, I guess I won't bother to try to join the 501st after all.
Thanks.

james3
09-19-2006, 08:15 AM
I have been tossing around getting in the 501st for a few years now but after last week I am full blown ready to go man.

You could do a custom Sith Lord. There is a forum dedicated just to the EU and custom stuff.

I am leaning towards a TK followed by a TX or TC.

ryanlb
09-19-2006, 08:19 AM
Does the custom allow for a black Anakin costume, or does it have to actually be different? I guess the only thing that really makes it an Anakin is the glove and saber, I could change those.
I'll have to look at the custom forum, thanks.
