Has anyone tried to roll their film into a cone? I had a go with a 10" length and a 1w flashlight, it was interesting!!! No photos though. Rolling 36" of film into a cone and securing it well might be tricky. If it could be done it might give a tapered core effect. Just a thought for people to play with.

if your wanting a tapered looking core look at corbin's film, it gives the appearance your talking about, try putting in a double wrap and you'll be very happy with the results im shure! also look as his driver, it gives your the power up and down blade extension effect like the mr but with the luxeon, and also allows the your new led to run at its capacity, it even adds new effects like spark and lock to your blade from shock to the blade while dueling... its freakin sweet man!

first off, welcome to the boards PS
second, i'm not sure how you would roll the diffueser and then stick it into the blade. you would have to use tape or glue to hold the poing and entire seam together which would create dark spots.

As always, Private Pyle is not sure of much but never in doubt.

To achive a true cone effect the inside of your blade would have to be cone shaped. The best results are at this time the blade film, and corbins driver works great.

Perhaps I should have explained further. I used some thin plastic film sanded with 800 wet and dry paper and rolled one tube and one cone, both about 10" long. The cone caught more of the light and appeared to be brighter. The tube did produce a tapered effect similar to Corbin's film. However, as Lord Maul suggests, it would be tricky to roll a cone of the length and taper required and securing it would raise a few problems. I will let you guys know if I do any more tests.

has anyone tried sanding the inside of the blade tube? It seams to me that if you suff it up and give it a nice opaque color it should diffuese the light quite nicely. Also, another palce online that specializes in luxeon lights have "focused" bulbs... anyone know anything about these?

You can sand the insides... it's tough and not the best. I recently saw Ultra recommend a rifle bore cleaner. Put it on a hand drill and go down the tube slowly. That'll give an effect like Corbin's film.

If you like the solid look you're kind of out of luck. Nothing that treats the inside of the tube will apply evenly down that evenly.

You mean Faern lenses? They've been tried... the columnators are the a lot easier to use. There isn't much of a visual benifit to the other lenses where ease of use is concerned.

I sandblasted the center of my blade with less than impressive results.

Even after sandblasting I still need to put the defuser in it. Otherwise it shows any dust in it, and it's not as bright down the length of the blade. In fact it's actually dark near the end with out it.

On the plus side, it does give it that solid look. And it gives it a metallic look when lit. (metallic as in like metallic paint, not silver looking)

I reckon this is one of those personal things. I LOVE the look of beadblasting the blade. I always tend to use TCSS blades standard though since it is quick, clean and easy. I plan on getting a blade blasted soon for my saber but really I would say that everyone would need to see first hand what the different blades look like.

Beadblasting the inside? or the outside?

I'm in love with the dual tube setup I got from Corbin. It's a lot of work but I'm going to make one sometime that doesn't have it's downfalls.

I don't like the solid look anymore.
