star wars is not a religion and and a sw figure could be an idol if you bow down to it for worship but not if you are just collecting them or playing with them, thats so dum.sw is just a fun thing to do its not your religion its just fun.

Unfortunately in my travels I have encountered people who actually think that way (if "think" is even the right word).
I can't help but wonder what Jesus really thinks about such things. I even ask Him sometimes.
Is that weird?

MC- Not at all buddy. I have been known to ask him things like that and more more serious stuff all the time. I have also questioned some people why it is ok to paint myself in Steelers colors for a game or in the case of this weekend deck out in total race gear(race is in Richmond this Saturday, Friday for Busch) and that is ok but if I want to throw on my Jedi gear and do some drills with a saber then that's weird. I don't do role play and such but there are lots of folks that do and that is their hobby. What's wrong with that? I know that I am out of place everywhere because I enjoy so many things in life that are stereotyped in to completely seperate groups.

It always comes down to perspective.

edit-sorry Bob, it seems that what was presented as a joke has become a (I aint even gonna try a spell that word today) discussion.

Hey guys! Just remember this! Anytime somebody makes fun of you for being a nerd or, more specifically, a star wars nerd, just remember this: Nerds invent all of the cool stuff that all of the neanderthals enjoy. And the morons never realize that fact. Just think: Ferraris, Bose stereo systems, high powered rifles, roller coasters, air conditioning, and good beer.

I was trying to find the pictures but these guys came out to Hollywood last year at the Midnight Screening of ROTS at the Arclight. I am Catholic and Love both Star Wars and Star Trek, I am a Jedi and try to Live by the Code, which is similar to the Code of Chiviarly and the Warriors Code I was taught when I started my Live Steel Training. I just don't see it, but somebody always has to have a problem with something, they just don't know the Power of the Nerd!!![8D]

Believers will “beam” up to the Starship in the sky, and Captain Jesus shall lead a thousand year Federation of Planets before Judgment Day.

That sounds so freaking cool. And funny as heck.

Don't you just love the psycho Christians?
.......and they call us barbarian heretics....... :roll:I would point out that this obviously wasn't made by a Christian.

I don't think we should be so quick to make fun of "Psycho Christians" just because they're... a little insane. they might actually have a slight point hidden somewhere in there.

"Do you have a collection of the Star Wars figures and idols? Do you watch the Star Wars- religiously?"

It's not good (or healthy) to be too obsessed with anything.

Nope! Sorry to disappoint, but I agree with you dude.
I am all for having multiple interests. Everyone here knows that I like my sports just as much as Star Wars costuming and such. Not to mention other interesting things.

Yeah, I know bordering on a religious debate is where you were probally going with that but again nope.

Stereotyping sucks, well said NW. and with that I am back to researching Clone Trooper armor.

There are all kind of NUTZ in this world, but please don't refer to them as christians because of what some nuts claim. Remember that they are just plain nuts nothing more nothing less

*Breathes sigh of relief*
Yay!! No more religious debates!!
Those never go anywhere...:x

Do-Clo and James, well said. The best way to avoid a religious debate is to not stereotype.

Oh, and Do-Clo, the only reason I would refer to them as Christians is because I actually know people like that who are Christians. I myself am a Christian through and through (anyone remember the infamous "Darth Maul" thread? Derailing at its best...), but I don't hold the same beliefs about fiction as those people.

You can't really stereotype Christianity, since it's so varied. You've got Catholics and protestants, then a thousand denominations within protestantism, then millions of people in both Catholicism and Protestantism who have their individual beliefs...

It's better to stay out of the arguments. Well, except to laugh at the "nuts" like this... :D
