I started working on this saber back in early March, With the MHS configurator it was easy to lay-out a design that would fill my want of a TFU1 Starkiller, I call this the Raxxis-Prime Edition due to the caustic acid etch/aging on the hilt, & more traditional materials for an authentic old world built weapon. Thanks to TCSS again for having so many parts to pick from! & here is the inspiration shot from the Lightsaber modification menu, in the game you come across various colored holocrons including saber crystals that change blade color & offensive/defensive abilities.

Very cool saber! I love it. You did a fantastic job replicating the Starkiller. The crystal chamber is awesome. Plus, I just realized your from Michigan and got the crystal in Waterford. I grew up in Pontiac, right off Baldwin across from the old Fiero plant! So being a Michigan based saber close to my old hometown makes it even cooler!

Thanks for the compliment & yes I remember as a kid seeing that plant pumping out plastic cars & my Dad working not far from there at Truck & Bus, so yes the old stomping grounds. I find it strange though that there are very few saber enthusiasts in michigan & people seem to be amazed when they see one that shows up at a party, or seeing my brother-law (techy) trip out & be mesmerized by my saber.

What a wonderful saber! And much work evident in its creation! TCSS is wonderful for all the options it gives you, and this forum compliments those many options, and the inevitable questions and creations that come from such variety. Wonderful to see yours, hope more pics follow!

Ha, I happen to have one of those "plastic cars". I also worked at Truck and Bus in Pontiac. I was at the Engineering Division on South Blvd.

At any rate, Fantastic saber!!!!!!!

Yep , the insiders told me they quit making the Fiero, due to the GT models competing with Camaro & Firebird sales. They were working on a small v-8 model until the the Corvette team got wind of it & after much bickering the Fiero was no more.... Nice example you have there, reminds of an old neighbor of mine that shoe-horned a 400 pontiac motor with a front wheel drive Riviera trans (that car was scary!!!!) Yep I'm from a long line of gear heads & my family goes back to my Grand Dad building GM's just back from WW2, & again Thanks for the compliments gentlemen, now I can finish a couple of other projects that have been getting neglected:)

O.K. last comment and then back on topic afterwards. My neighbor, John Bond, worked in the Pontiac building on the Fiero Development Team. He brought home that V8 powered Fiero, it was gold at the time. He also told me about what the next Gen. Fiero would have looked like and how it would have performend. Yes, Chevy controlled the check book back then. Chevy got scared at the prospect of a car performing as good as the Vette at half the cost.

Alrighty then. How do you like the Igniter R2 soundboard? I have had mine for about two months and really like it.

Actually The Igniter is awesome!!! I was going to hold out for a CF6, & started building sabers last fall, for the longest there were no boards available & then I saw the Igniter & worked it into the build, the coolest thing I noticed is that you can get a continuous string of blaster blocks after hitting the aux. button. I also have been hoping to see the font "ancient saber" come available for the Igniter,,, love that font, Oh yeah, I just did some math....your another one of us old guys playing with expensive flash-lights!:D
here is a couple of during construction shots, alot of this stuff I didnt plan (engineering on the go!) the sd card slips out of the front chassis disc through a milled slot, you just unscrew the front section & pull it back an inch or so http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/Battpack4.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/starproject5.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/starproject4.jpg
This is a blue-print I found for a Graflex/reflex front section

This is a gorgeous Starkiller. How are you liking your Igniter board?

HaHa, yes I am an "old guy" playing with an expenve flashlight! I'm 45 years young! I have two other sabers coming my way soon. One will have an Igniter and the other will be a stunt for my grandson. Yes, the blaster blocks are cool. Do you have yours set up for different colors on blaster blocks using the shade? I do on a few fonts and like it. I however really like the amber, light blue and white for blocks. Again, very cool saber, looking forward to your next.

Oh and stegasp, Darthalice says "Igniter is awesome" above, so yeah I think he likes it!

ohhhh man... yep.
i cant see your saber (photobucket is blocked from the ship im on) but i can tell i LOVE IT!
mostly because i've had a machined FX starkiller laying around that i have been trying to figure out how to get at least 2 colors going. then along comes the igniter and its like WOW perfect! now i need to get one! just wish it would get a little more font support.
but im glad to hear its working for your starkiller! (btw if anyone wants to re-host a good shot of darthalice's saber i would appreciate it)

cant wait to get home and finish mine!

I have a couple of other projects in the works as well, I'm trying to score more 1-1/2" oval tubing for a saber design that I came up with awhile back. So far I have built 4 of them & completed 2 (one of them is Evil & is collecting dust for awhile) I have always had some form of katana in my possesion for the last 30 odd years & wanted a saber that handled the same way, This is a pic of my traditionally wrapped Katana with NS3.0 sound-board & Cyan Lux V Bin3 http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/katana15.jpg(it started life with an amber lux3)http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/katana10.jpg

I have a Katana hanging on my living room wall above the picture window. I also keep a Tanto next to my bed. They don't light light up though. These have an oval blade? It's hard to tell in the pics. Can you take one with the saber off? Very cool idea.

I have a couple of sharp ones too! I modeled these hilts after my Paul-chen/Hanwei Ninja-to. Most of the hilt is 1"x 1-1/2" oval aluminum tubing (that I am having a tough finding more) http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/DSC00277.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/saberwrap1.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/Green10watt1.jpg

Your Katana hilts look great! I've gotta build one of these.

These have an oval blade?

I believe he was only referring to the aluminum of the hilt, not the polycarbonate blade.

Gotcha! But how cool would it be to have an oval blade on something like this?

Very cool, it would be great for someone who wants to study Kenjutsu with a lightsaber.

I just changed a few fonts and did a couple of small changes to my starkiller, I added the font "Electrum" it's very loud and sithy, also I mixed on my Igniter a purple blade that isnt doing the seperation that some have experienced using R and B in series with an LEDengin,. And finally a kill key from Force relics in brass that immediately got hit with weathering solution http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/starkiller2.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/killkey1.jpghttp://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z433/DarthAlice88/starproject22.jpg

That is a pretty neat saber Alice.

I was wonderign what do you use for the weathering solution ? Is the handle out of aluminum or steel ? Tried to "weather" mine, but it just won't stick to aluminum.

For aging on aluminum I have been using a caustic soda solution to literally "eat away" the metal and create a pitted look that takes paint or birchwood caseys aluma black very well.
Go to the local hardware store and buy a bottle of drain cleaner (lye). take your saber completely apart, cover up the threads with electrical tape (I use rubber stoppers to seal the ends) dip the saber in the solution for 12 hours (or until the metal is pitted to your liking) you have to be careful with this stuff (ever see that scene in fight club about chemical burns???....same stuff) also it will change tolerances ( i now do machining after the solution bath if I can help it).

Nice! I dying for a Starkiller for my collection! Awesome!, I just started building another one, thats going to have a few neat tricks including a 5MW red laser driving a Lemurian crystal chamber, and a lit up exotic red-crystal graflex eye( I'll start a thread soon, its 80% machined!)
