Ok this story starts a couple weeks ago when i tried to convert my anakin. I used the stock blade holder and after a day I moved all the parts into a custom hilt. Now after trying and trying to build this saber I have come to everyone for some help. I have no blade holder and no heat sink. All I have got is the sounboard in its plastic case with an exposed LED, then a fully assembled blade. What are my options and what do i need to get to fix my mistakes? If you need a pic just ask.

Are you wanting a custom or do you want the anakin hilt? If it is a custom you are after then might I suggest the modular hilt system sold in the store here. You could still use the led and sound board. Another option for a custom would be to use the sink tube adapter if you are using a sink tube designed custom hilt. http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/Scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=105
Then buy an emitter and it will include the heatsink.

If you want the anakin hilt then buy the conversion kit also sold in the store here. It will fit the anakin hilt beautifully and will allow you to still use the parts you have. There also is a tutorial in the forums for the anakin hilt that might help you out in this as well. It just depends on whether you want a custom hilt or the anakin hilt.

Hey guys. Thanks for the advice, I was really confused about the mudular system. I cant really use my anakin hilt as the buttons are wrecked and I really would like mine to have no control box. I cant post pics at this moment as i have to sleep but tommorrow morning I will before I go to school.

Thanks again everyone who helps out other people on this forum.

What trouble are you having with the modular hilt system? There is a MHS builder on the fist page of the store.
http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/Scripts/build.asp
It will allow you to see what your hilt will look like before you build it. You can add different emitters, pommels, and main body pieces to each other because, they are all made to work together. You could still use the Anakin hilt because, there are replacement copper buttons out there. If that is the buttons you are talking about? And as far as the control box goes you could remove it and use the opening to mount a switch. Just some thoughts. Post us some pictures when you can, so we can see what you have to work with. Stay with it and you will have a saber you can be proud of.

To JediMcD you must listen. Go you must to the builder.[^]

Something to think about. If you get a MHS hilt you could use the quick change part on your LED and in the future if you want a different color then all you need is a quick change kit and a LED.

The last one is showing how I want the saber to look. It kinda has a qui-gon feel to it.

Yup,
I would carefully take everything apart and inspect it. Then order the MHS system and whatever parts you need. I would also use a dremmel to carve out that cool design from a sink tube.

Nice saber!

for the saber you want you should just MHS it.
look at this, you could either paint it or do a sinktube overlay for the black stuff in your design

Yeah, I was just going to have the Mhs to sink tube adapters but I figured it would be better and only abit more to build a full MHS hilt. Its going to be emitter 1, ribbed section, double threaded hilt 1 then pommel 1.

EDIT: Can I cut off the MRFFX saber switch and put on one of Tims?

ti-el that will be a bit long. If you like that cool but there are some other ways to build it with the ribbed section and keep it under a foot.

The other way that is shorter costs even more.

JediMcD

It might cost more, but if your hilt is too long it will be a little harder to swing around. That is if it is a single bladed hilt. If it is a staff saber then you would want it longer. I think you would like a setup like emitter > ribbed section > 2.5" extension > double ended female section > pommel. It will turn out shorter than using the double threaded main section. This is just a suggestion, and the great thing about the MHS is that you can arrange it in so many ways. If you think you would want it your way then go for it.

If you do the emitter style 1 and pommel style 1 then you can slide a sink tube over the middle sections you use and the emitter and pommel will hold the sink tube in place because, they are a little larger in diameter than the main body pieces. Then you could do the cutouts you were wanting and they would show the aluminium main body through them.

I personally like longer hilts. I dont know the wieght of the MHS parts but I might as well try it out, after all its only money.
And again can i use Tims switches on a MR?

james3

You can use any latching switch you want on a MR, so yes Tim's latching switches would work well.

Enjoy the new build

Ok, I just started trying to rebuild this saber yesterday and Iv just about got it together but I have a quick question. Im using a scratch built blade holder and when its in the hilt and the blade is in it wobbles. I wrapped duct tape around it to make it more of a snug fit but I dont know if I should use something else.

If there's room for duct tape (the handymans secret weapon), then your blade holder is too big. If you can get a proper size I'd recommend it. If you can't - try to find metal tube or pipe that fits over your blade, but inside your blade holder.
