First off I would like to thank everyone for the advice and tutorials that helped me create my first(already planning a second) MHS saber.
I would also like to thank Madcow for his awesome "shatter point " font. It goes really well with the Rebel "royal blue" LED.
I'm a huge Dr. Who fan so i would like to think of it as tardis blue.
only took a few pics. so without delay........i give you "BadWolf"

Good pics so far. Do you plan some paintings, overlays or powdercoating ?

this being my first build, i wanted to keep it simple.
i will probably do a more advance build for my 2nd
or 3rd i.e: crystal chamber, accent LED......overlays.
not to concerned about powder coating.

I will be posting a short video and more pics in a few
days.

Curious as to why you had to change the switch to latching? The PC is configurable for either.

I like it. it looks good for a first build.

Nice. But do you always need a chassis if you're using PC-U? I plan on using PC-U and the 14500 pre-wired pack. Thanks for the velcro idea though.

You don't "need" a chassis, but it is defiantly a good idea to create one to hold everything secure and neat. At the very least, you need to ensure that your PC is insulated from touching the metal hilt to prevent shorts and it and the batteries are secured from rattling around to prevent damage from dueling. Construction of chassis, regardless of the materials used, seems to be the most efficient means of ensuring the electronics won't be damaged.

I just finished Season 1 of Dr Who the other day, so when I saw the title Badwolf... I knew I would love it!

It helps quite a bit. There are several tricks to making sure your electronics don't get damaged. Also, a chassis helps to insure that your saber is more durable in a fight.

Apart from securing your electronics and avoiding rattling noises, the chassis makes the "maintenance" of your electronics easier. Getting them in and out is easier, and hey, it's more "cool" ...

@DarkarNights. So I could just use velcro for now when I can get my stuff? Like I was going to wrap it around the soundboard and battery pack kinda like what he did to secure th sound module.

That should be fine if you wrap it thick enough that it doesn't rattle.

I'm having trouble downloading the vid, but I'm woking on that.

as far as the chassis goes, it does help securing the board and batt.
i used a velcro strap from the mini dell i bought
and it eliminates any rattle that was there.
took a few more pics to show the chassis disks and how i had to
"modify" them.
i had to drill out space for the battery and wires

the piece you have the activation box mounted on, is that the 3 inch or the 4 inch double female extension piece?

Elim Vos
06-26-2012, 02:44 PM
it is a 3 inch.
When i mounted it i had to notch out the style 1 disk so it would fit right,
and it also keeps the chassis from spinning.

I know, but it's popularly shortened to 'fish custard' by the Internet masses.

How about maple syrup over bacon? Less nasty? Anyway I'll cease the culinary hijacking of your thread now :)

Is that an m&m minis speaker mount I see?

Elim Vos
06-28-2012, 04:16 AM
yep, but i did have to sand the rim a little so the speaker would sit properly.
going for a bass speaker in #2(WIP) and looks like ill have to do the same.

For the bass I found I actually had to split the m&m tube on either side. Basically I cut a 1mm wide slot on either side down to the end cap which I then screwed onto my chassis rods

Elim Vos

I meant that I'm going to have to sand a little off the inside of the speaker holder, the M&Ms was for the grooved section.
also, I'm going for a forward or "reverse" sound.....
