My father gave me his Luke ESB Graflex Luxeon he bought on Ebay today.

It doesen't work properly. For one, when I turn it on, the LED doesen't turn on and the sound keeps doing the activation noise when I move the hilt. Also, a small circuit board rolled in duct tape keeps heating up very fast.

Any idea what the problem is?

contact the seller and see if they would like to correct the problem.

I did.

He tells me no refunds, but he insured it. So I went to the post office and got a form. Oh well, this sucks.

If it was me... I'd carefully take it apart and redo all the wiring using heat shrink to isolate evry solder joint.

I don't know how to do that at all, so I guess I'm stuck.

So I am guessing this is a private seller? Did he mention that there was a problem? Is he willing to fix it? etc. After all avenues are explored and there is no resolve then neg feedback his arse.

I saw your video up in chat. It was a little dark and chaotic. Why don't you get it in some light, use the pause as needed and take your time to show everything.

There is a great tutorial here as well as all of us nutcases. If you got the solder iron we got the time.

I saw the FX-sabers post... when I had that problem on my stock saber I had hit the saber like it was a rapier straight. Assuming it's running off of an FX board, I'd check to see how well the connector is seated and or any of the battery connectors. I'm leaning torward a battery connection issue.

EDIT: I read FX again... GAH! It gave the magic smoke? Duct tape heating up? It's borked. That guy sent you a piece of trash. Unfortunatly it sounds like you got a nice hilt and that's about it.
