Inspired by Jay-gon's PVC Hilts (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?3266-Jay-gon-s-PVC-Hilts-Full-tutorial-on-last-page), I am going to start designing and building a series of hilts that are seen through the Expanded Universe. At first, I plan to make only lit sabers, but soon I plan to include sound with them too.

My first project is going to be an Imperial Knight Saber. I already have the hilt designed, I just need to know if I am missing anything from the parts list for the LED, specifically if I need some form of a heatsink. If I do need one, can someone give me any suggestions on where to get one/how to make one?

For a heatsink in a PVC saber, check out this thread: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?11890-Led-assembly-for-PVC-hilts.

3/4" copper pipe endcap works like a charm.

3/4" copper pipe endcap works like a charm.

Yeah they do, you can use them for just about any 3 wat. led, and with a little modification (1" section of 3/4" id. copper pipe, and 1" section of 3/4" aluminum rod along with the endcap. Wrap the whole assembly with aluminum plumbers tape to hold everything together) you can run a 10 wat. led with no problems
