I found a post related to flashlights that show the AW Protected battery being taken apart. Essentially what is left is the blue cell (unprotected battery), a circular PCB, tabs, bus bar etc.
This leads me to believe that i can take the protected battery, strip out the PCB, making it an unprotected battery, combine 2 of these batteries, then add my own PCB for in hilt charging.
Does anyone know if this does/doesnt work?

Thanks!

It *can* be done. That's not to say it's particularly easy to do it safely.

In particular, post #24: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?12829-Li-Ion-Battery-Packs&p=199420#post199420 has directions on how to do this task. Pay attention to Azmaria's parting words in that post, "easy as nitroglycerin pie topped with napalm and candles. ^_^ "
