I've been wondering for a while now... How do you make the metal look aged?

please search for "weathering" and see what threads come up - lots of discussion from baking in oil, to aluminum black, to painting, to just burying it in dirt...

The secret is called "aluminum black."

That, or you can use the olive oil weathering tutorial that is around here somewhere.

Or bury it in manure for a month or two.

Or hit it with a torch for a bit.

There's many ways to weather a saber. Look around the gallery for some you like, and see if they describe how they did it.

A simple technic is to sand the metal of your hilt, then painting it with vegetal oil, and to the oven. It's free and the results are awesome, look for eastern57 weathering technic
