Ok, I admit it up front: I did not do a search on this particular topic; time constraints and emotions have spurred me to post this. So, break out your Zippos if you dare, but unnerstan' this up front: I give as good as I get, m'kay?[}:)]

All that being said, I'm LOVING Tim's blades. Durable as all get out! I went to NY earlier this week and had a sparring session. I witnessed two, count 'em two (2) blades break. It was amazing. During the same duel, this guy's tip flew off, and then the top 2-3 inches sheared off on his "replacement". Afterwards, the guy comes up to me and goes "Where did you get yours?" Of course, I plugged the store. Mine held up like the champ it is. Thank you, Tim, for providing a quality product.

I invite discussion...

You don't need to see any identification.

**edit: Ok, I just saw Drewbacca's thread on the next page. I still stand by my statement, though, as this thread discusses the merits of the blades, and the aforementioned topic discusses tips. So, there.[:p]

King o' Semantics, am I.

lol, great stuff to hear. What type of blade was he using? It had to be a stock MR. I don't think a 1/16" PolyC blade would act like that.

Not even! These were "conversions"! It was a converted Maul (didn't break) vs. two converted Maces. The Maces, sadly, were the damaged ones. Granted, I don't think they were the 1" diameter joints, but still...

You don't need to see any identification.

That's pitiful if they were "upgrades". At least you sent them this way. Now with the shouldered tips and all they should be set.[:)]

I still think there are several folks that are using the MR blades even when they convert. Their loss I guess, I admit that I use the MR's as well and LOVE them for swinging around or showing off hilts since it does a nice job of the weightless feel but any serious dualing should be used with TIM'S BLADES! THEY ROCK!

Sorry for misspells I have to get back to yard work.

I agree with you naashar. Tim offers great products. The thick walled blades are darn near indestructable. Well unless you are xwing or your dueling partner happens to be a bench vise. I have bashed these blades with a hammer as hard as I can, and I didn't even hurt them. You can't get much better than that, and with the new tips I think we are set as far as durability goes.

Sabers are cool and stuff

lol, you don't know the limits until you get to them. I was looking to break the tip and eventually it did. I haven't like ever sheared a blade in half or anything. The most I got with the tip hit was some shards. The rest of it was still quite useable.

i'm gonna get a TCSS blade soon too. right now all i have is the MR blade with a mirror. unfortunaltely, that isn't bright at all cause for some reason the led isn't working right or something. not sure what a TCSS blade will do when my stock blade is dimmer than a MR for all but the first inch or so and you can barely see the light in the middle of the blade [:(]

Maul make a seperate topic with pics. We can certainly help, but it belongs elsewhere. If the stock blade isn't that bright then the TCSS blade certainly isn't going to make it better.

I'm getting 3 Luxeons in the near future. I sent 2 to JediSaberSmith a while ago and hopefully he is finished with them. The other is a Graflex Luke ESB Luxeon from Ebay.

Can't wait to see how durable Luxeons really are!

If you look around at all the topics. You'll see that the limit is the blade. Even then all you have to do is replace it.

It's satisfying to see a broken blade and the Luxeon is still lighting up.[:D]

it takes extremely hard core dueling to break a TCSS blade TNWM, a stock MR blade, not so much

I was told by JSS that you have to try to break the MR blade.

Please refer to my Durability Test and Durability Test #2 threads for some good info on the PolyC blades. [8D]

He told you right. My kids have their own Ultra Sabers made with the standard MR blades. They've been slammed in mini-van doors and wacked against everything. A year later, they are still fine.

However, dueling against people who like to hit too hard can crack an MR blade. That's when you insert your 1/8" walled blade and brain the guy.

If you guys havnt heard already....the Maul Blades aree SIGNIFICANTLY thicker than previous MR blades, not as thick as the 1/8(thick walled) inch blades, but thicker than the 1/16(thin walled) inch ones. The shouldered tips for the thick walled will fit the stock MR maul blade also(inside the diffuser). The OD is slightly larger than the standard 1" blade.

Nope, it's the same thickness as the rest.

Regarding blade strength, I can safely say that when using the 1" OD, 3/4" ID blades (a mixture from Corbin when he was separate of TCSS, and a mixture of TCSS blades)...

..it took about a YEAR before I was able to create any significant damage on any of the blades.

All of the damage was concentrated on tip problems and about the two to three inches just below the tip cracking along with the tip coming off.

I'm beginning to wonder if gluing on tips is actually a GOOD idea... since when a glued tip comes off... it usually shears a piece of the poly-tube with it!

It appears to be the TIP that rips away the poly-tube... not the impact itself. My guess.

I've been trying JUST using clear packing tape (several wraps around the last few inches of the blade and holding the tip in place). I prefer the shouldered tips.

This has worked WONDERFULLY in adding a little shock absorption, and also prevents the tips from flying off magnificently.

Granted, the tape won't always look pretty up close and personal--but is not detectable from 4+ feet away... and CERTAINLY not able to be seen while dueling. :)
