I have a couple questions about wanting to build my first hilt.

First, I was curious as to whether the modular electronics system is the best option, or do you have to eventually have to do your own because it's more customizable?

Second, and this may be a doozie of a question, but could I possibly ask someone to show me where I can find the parts he uses (he said they were bought at a different store) in this instructional video, but on the custom saber site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nON6UnLSmGI&list=FLYpKKJeKV9tvNTGmO3e0qvA&index=1&feature=plpp_video I just want to make sure I get everything so I don't have to order again is all.

Thanks so much for any help.

If you want sound, the modular electronics system does not support it (yet). Eventually you will likely want to build your own from scratch. The modular system is ideal for those with zero soldering experience, or who just want something quick to put together. If you don't want sound right now, and want something easy to snap together, then the modular system will suit you just fine. It'll cost a few extra dollars over buying the parts individually, since there's some labor involved in presoldering all your components for you.

The parts in that video are all available at TCSS, though there are newer versions available now. Luxeon III's have been replaced with Rebels and Seoul P4's. The regulator he has in the video can be replaced with a number of options. Resistor, Buckpuck, Driver, or a sound card like the Petit Crouton.

Thank you so much! As far as soldering experience, I have none, but is it extremely hard? Can't I do just like the guy in the video, or are there techniques? And if so, could I find a video on them? Thanks again.

I'll share the video I used when I was learning.

Soldering isn't hard, it just takes some practice. Pick up a decent soldering iron and some 60/40 leaded solder. Avoid lead-free, it's terrible to learn with.

Here's a saber I put together with ZERO prior experience. It has Petit Crouton sound with accent LEDs. I did know some soldering basics before I started and some electronics experience. But I was totally new to the saber scene. This was a learning experience and I made some mistakes. But I stuck to it and the end result wound up being pretty cool. I've taken what I learned and have come up with some ideas for a second saber. Good luck.
