Well I finished designing a saber, but after talking to Tim I found it definitely wasn't going to happen with MHS parts.

I reworked it and now its doable, but its going to be a pain for Tim and my wallet plus is around 13 1/2 inches now.
I kept messing around with designs and found another I liked.
It can be just normal MHS parts, will cost around half as much as the first, and has a matching shoto.

But I just can't decide which I would rather do, so I'm asking the forum.

Saber 1 - The remake of my original saber, Obi-Wan/OT inspired.

Saber 2 - A pair of sabers inspired by The Old Republic.
The 4 inch black section is machined down a little.
I might leave the black as is or add a leather/cloth wrap of some sort in the future.

Saber 2C- Saber 2 with custom blade holder and choke. I don't think Tim can make the choke.

I'm leaning towards the 2nd saber.
I'm rather partial to the OT look, but I will most likely make/buy an Obi-Wan saber in the future and it occurs to me that I may not like the first saber as much sitting next to an Obi-Wan.
That aside it becomes much less of a bother to Tim and my wallet.

Let me know what you all think.

If you ask I definitively prefer the 2C, maybe because it's more detailed than the 2A and 2B. To have an idea of these parts assembled, just have a look at my former archeoForge relic saber http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/album.php?albumid=213&attachmentid=4435 as it is very closed to a weathered 2C or 2B design.
My experience on this saber tells me that the grip section may be more detailed than it was. That led me to use a brass overlay, so IMO you'd better go for a leathered or something like that in the grip than just black painting.
Hope it has helped a bit ;)

I'd be getting it powder coated, sort of leaning towards Black Wrinkle.
But I would definitely at least try some sort of leather/cloth wrap.

2c short would be cool with a rubberized grip on the bottom that would fit what you are having machined down. Not sure where to find that rubber sleeve type thing, but i bet it's out there.
