hi im trying to make a saber and would like to add a extend retract effect to the light of the blade.
what should i use to get this effect for my blade?

Well, you can get an approximation of this effect using certain LED drivers (Petit Crouton sound card is a good choice) and a blade with giftwrap in it. It will not truly extend/retract the light, but it still looks good.

If you want the light to actually extend/retract like the MR/Hasbro lightsabers, then you'll need to construct a string LED blade, and use an appropriate driver for the effects.

The petit crouton has an excellent LED driver that provides a Fade in/ Fade out look. If you add corbin film (also sold at TCSS) you will get a very nice effect.

Yes its the Corbin film/blades available @ TCSS that maximize the pseudo-extend/retract illusion of the fade-in/fade-out dimmer when using a PWM driver like Petit Crouton.

PC + Corbin blade ftw!
