ESB, Degobah Edition Vintage Graflex with Diatium Power Core

This project has been nocking around in my brain for a very long time...heck, since the JSSDC Graflex challenge. Only problem was, at that point I didn't have the skill to do what I wanted to do. So, what was my idea? Well, I wanted a "core" with a copper wire-wrapped section to mimic the famous Diatium power cores in the KOTOR games (among many places in the literature). I wanted it to be unique. A completely a novel design...that is not easy to do BTW, because "cores" have been done before (goodman, conceptprops/tattoosby/MachinedFx) and we all know a "yoda-style" chassis from a mile off. This had to "not be" those. This is not meant to be "better" or to compete with that type of chassis. It is meant to be my own unique product for when I (rarely) take G-flexes, but also a product that can translate into other types of sabers. It has a discretely machined dual crystal chamber that is encased within a "protective" core (of course there are milled windows to allow "heat" dissipation, duh). The Diatium copper wrapped section is there as well with a LED bargraph to simulate the power level meter. This project also debut's my new weathering process, Ferretium (tm). I actually built a whole CF saber (to be posted soon) to develop this right in the middle of this graflex build to make sure I got it just right. In truth, I built 3 CF sabers concurrently to this one and each of those were testbeds for something that went into this saber (Unghia was the one I have posted so far). There is not a spare mm in this saber because what I did, in essence, is build a 1.125" OD x 0.90" ID mini saber and install it into a Graflex. After nearly 100 hours, I feel as though I have achieved my original goal of a uniquely new product. I know Kaplan likes it and I hope others will as well (heck, at least I hope they "get it")...Oh yeah, did I mention that it is EPICALLY loud? :lol:

No not much weight. It came out very balanced. Heavier than the more common chassis' made from acrylic discs and spacers.
