This is a clean design. I am looking forward to seeing the progress. What color are you planing on using for this saber?

Estine Shabone

The switches will be added in the ribbed extension. On the draft on the top of the side you can see two half circles on the ribbed extension.

Great so far

Don't forget to protect the overlay under the template .It can avoid little scratches in the case of Ouuuups ;)

How should I protect the overlay?
I'll grind down the inside of the overlay to be sure not to have scratches in the powder coating ;)

Masking tape/painter's tape is great for avoiding the "oops" when your Dremel slips. Trust me, at some point it WILL slip, and it's usually when your piece is almost finished.

I totally agree silver serpent, but even with protection you can easily damage the overlay. if the dremel gets stuck in the material (even if it's just a little bit) it can break out and damage the pipe, especially then you are near a curve or edge. so make sure to have a tight grip on you dremel and don't rush yourself when cutting, take as much time as possible.
if you are not used to work with a dremel, try it on some part of the overlay which won't be used.

Also, get the flexible shaft attachment for your rotary tool if you don't already have one. You get so much more fine control when using that attachment. I don't know how I ever got by without one.

Thank you for all your tips but I won't need this tips because the overlay will be cut mechanical. So I don't have any work with cutting the overlay ;)
I just made the template to see if the overlay is how I want ;-)
But thank you for all your tips :D

looks sharp!

glad you picked the overlay material instead of just 'sinktube' material....

may I suggest more of a 'rounded' corner/radius cut for the window cut-out on the bottom? I think it would flow a bit better.. especially if you having this machined.. it will look nice.

I agree with XL.

Great MHS choices though. Good luck!:D

Ah ok it's a good way
I personnaly put double face tape with hard board over it to avoid scratches on the edge (but only because i'm bad at cutting)

So today you get news about the Traxus :)
I brought the overlay material to a factory for cutting, so the hilt will be completed in a few weeks :D

You will be updated soon ;)

Update

I have to update the specification:
-The Traxus will get a new SP-LED which Saberproject developed.
-And the chassis will be made from the MCS (Modular-Chassis-System) which Bertuzzi developed. That's a chassis system which includes chassis discs.

@boj-vaati: goolge-translate is not the best way to translate english to german :D you just said; this sight big, my friend^^ but I think you wanted to say "this looks great", so try something like: das sieht großartig aus.

but back to topic: it really looks good, a very simple but elegant design

Estine Shabone

yeah batosai, das sieht großartig aus is correct :D
and the design is quite simple, but the saber looks so great *-*
I'm really looking forward to hold the finished saber in my hands :)
