View Full Version : Dramath, a Sith Lord's Saber by LDM

There once was a Sith Lord named...Dramath.

Dramath was a male Sith Lord of the Old Sith Empire who ruled over the planet Medriaas in the years before the Great Hyperspace War. According to legends circulating among the Sith at the time of the Old Sith Wars, Lord Dramath had a son, Tenebrae, with one of his subjects, a poor farmer's wife. Tenebrae killed Dramath and took his place as master of Nathema at a very young age, whereupon Marka Ragnos recognized him as Lord Vitiate of Medriaas. - Wookiepedia.

I love me some OG Sith Lords. There are, of course no reference pictures of some of these dudes so I get free reign when I create their sabers! This is a project that literally just came together after sitting on the shelf for over a year. Acerocket saw it in it's pure machined form and recognized the awesome shorty choke that he made eons ago. The thing with nearing the clear out point in my build log is that I got to make something for myself (at least it is for me til Nightstorm finnegals it out of me, lol). I dont' have a CFv5 saber (well...okay I guess I have an Acerocket TPM, but that thing is a POS... ) so I decided that I needed one and since I also don't have an "Oxidized Bronzium a.k.a. Oxidium weathered" saber that I would do that too. I am also a big fan of the leather wraps...so I did that too. I wanted it to be something not seen before, so I thought..."why not 2 boxes?" Heck if one box is good, then two is twice as good right? Well, I think that I may actually believe that in this case, because the result is a saber that simply feels useable. I may pursue this design aesthetic in future builds unless I am the only one that ends up liking it. This hilt is a mix of custom and MHS parts. The boxes and pommel are MHS. I am actually particularly happy with the subtle changes on the pommel that make it mesh perfectly with my custom machined by me Clan-style emitter. I also wanted to try the Rebel RGB LED that I have been sitting on. I did and I like it. A few reasons. Firstly, it is not a friggin power hog like an LEDengin 10W. True that it does not mix perfectly, but I will say that there are now optics developed specifically for it and it mixes much better than previously. I would give it a B+ for mixing and an A- overall since it is easy on the batteries and my heatsink doesn't need to be 17" thick to use it...oh yeah, you can solder to it without a blow torch. Hope y'all like it...but if ya don't remember that I don't really care since I made it for me. ;)

Is that a trim ring under the blade holder? Thought you couldn't put those there for room issues or whatever. Nice saber either way. =]

a really good looking saber! I like the idea of using two activation boxes.
may I ask how you achieved this color of the aluminium? have you used aluminium black or paint?

It is Oxidized Bronzium (tm) weathering.

Thanks everyone.

@Jedimastergarcia- That is a full custom BH (no trim rings involved). I did say in the post that the boxes and pommel were the only MHS parts ;)

Best bladeholder ever.

And the saber ain't too bad either. :p
The color of the wrap seems a bit off to me though.

Whoa boy. This Oxidium job is the best I've seen you do, and I'm generally blown away by your weathering work. I really dig how you innovated with those dual dual switch-boxes, it really sets it off nicely. Other than that, I will probably have to ask Tim to replicate that BH, it's just so gosh-darn cool looking. I must admit, with the emitter and choke you have there, they make this saber on my top 5 favorites of all time. Well done.

That was exceptionally nice to say. Thank you.

@everyone else, thank you very much. Yeah, I really love that BH choke combo. I made the BH, but Acerocket made the choke, so it is a bit of a collaboration.

@Raf, the leather is weathered and looks perfect in real life. It looks a bit "pale" and way too clean in the pictures. For some reason, I just couldn't pick up the true look on the camera.

Very well balanced hilt. A light weathering with the grip colour contrast, the two boxes are innovating and the bladeholder finishes it all. PERFECT
