ignition and shut down question

I plan on building a EL saber and I have yet to experiment with EL wire but was wondering what you have to get the ignition and shut down effect. By this I mean the blade takes a second to compleatly light up or go dark. Any advice is appreciated.

Nope. Go back to EL Saber link, go down two lines, click on EL Q&A, its right there. I know its hard to read the massive amounts of info on this site, but please try to look around for answers to your questions. If you can think to ask it, it's probably been discussed. There's also a real handy search feature in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Essentially if you want a grow/retract effect, you have the MR sabers and an LED saber with Corbin's driver board. If you want to duel with it, this leaves LED, which is way brighter than EL anyways. So unless you're dead-set on EL you might want to look at LED. Under "All Forums" look at the FAQ and the thread index, they will tell you all... well maybe not all, but enough[8D]

The Anakin AOTC MRFX saber was EL and it had an ignition/retraction effect. Basically it just faded on and off, so technically it can be done. Problem is, no one has bothered to make a dimming curcuit for EL readily available.

just buy a busted anakin aotc and take out the sound card cause then your saber will have sound and a ingition effect

so are you saying use the card on an EL or LED saber?

Yoy would have to buy a Anakin EPII MR FX saber to get the parts to make your EL saber power up and down. The early MR FX sabers were EL but expect to pay a good price for an Anakin EPII MR FX cause they are fairly rare and it would be a shame to cut one up[:(]
