red is the best for a real red saber. it is just like vaders and palpatines sabers

I only ask because non of the pic do the two justice... if someone would do a comparison shot that would be great. maybe time should do a color shot of all colors in a row.

if you already know that, then why ask? even if people took more pics they wouldn't be like the real thing. the best way to find out for yourself is to just choose one and see if you like it

i like Red although i've thought about getting a Red-orange Led.
I think amber would be good but that just isnt my first pick

So heres my list in order of most liked to least liked[:)]

red
royal blue
green
red orandge
amber
cyan
white (versatile but its the absence of color)
purple (its at the bottom b/c i
haven't decided if UV is the way to go)

Having been an EL blade enthusiast for many years, I can't get over the brightness, purity, clarity and over-all "purty-ness" [:p] of the red LED, even though I'm not a Sith. I have yet to see the red-orange in person.

My next favorite is Royal blue, it's the color I carry when I'm in Jedi garb. Blue is one of my 2 favorite colors, along with red, in more than just lightsaber blades (which is why I chose blue and red for my tattoo [;)] ).

Green is very nice too, but my friend Zhi-don is partial to it and I like to be in contrast to him with my blue blade when we do events together. (Plus, it seems like we have a lot of local people who have green EL bladed sabers)

I like my amber LED, it's very "KoToR-ish" but is seems kind of dim compared to the top 3 I mention. I feel like my basic set up isn't driving it to it's full potential. I don't carry an amber blade when I'm doing an event in public, because it confuses people who don't know anything about the Expanded Universe.

I've seen the cyan and that's nice too, it will always remind me fondly of Luke's saber in ANH.

I have a white LED, but I haven't wired it up yet, or gotten off my butt to request some Lee Filters for it, though I do have Tim's set of filters.

White light isn't the absence of color, that's not how light works, it's a mixture of all visible wavelengths of light.

An optical filter that people use with the white LEDs is a "device which selectively transmits light having certain properties (often, a particular range of wavelengths, that is, range of colors of light), while blocking the remainder." That's a quote from Wikipedia.[8D]

In order to see the Light, you must sometimes risk the Dark.

The first 2 El's I built were of course Red and Blue(classic) but my last one was white and it is kind of cool to be able to change in a matter of seconds. Would really like a RBG Lux which would let you change it at will, I am also kind fond of Yellow eventhough it is Kotorish and you don't see it often.

I've definitely changed my preferences over time based on how sweet some of the off colors that are here.
