i tried searching for info on both of these but couldn't find much (maybe my search skills just suck).

I've got a pretty small hilt, its a main body 2, pommel style 3 v2, blade holder 8 which was plenty for the bucky setup. so i ordered my PC-U and some Li-Ions to power it. The pack (2x18650s) is the whole hilt. the switches take up a lot of room too. I'm ordering a 3" and 4" extension for the hilt to see which works best, as i'd like to have a recharge port in there too. What i'm wondering is could i get away with a 3.7v 18650 running the PC-U + a green luxeon rebel star? i'm pretty sure i can't since it says min is 4.5v.

second question is, runtime. 2200mAh cells @ 7.4v should last quite a while right?

thanks, and sorry if this has been asked tons of times. i got my PC-U soldered up and tested and i'm so excited to get my saber finished!

Rebel greens in the store are listed as 3.4v @ 700 mA. http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Luxeon-Rebel-Star-P523.aspx

You should be able to run it fairly well on a single li-ion, though two is ideal. The 14500s (AA sized) will fit side-by-side in most MHS pieces, but the 18650s won't (which I'm sure you know by now). You'll have a very nice runtime with the two cells.

There's a way to put 18650s side by side, if you want to do a bit of extra work and put a shroud over the saber. See this post by Sunrider: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?11410-Yes-compact-18650-MHS-section

So i like the idea of doing that with the body. i could really get a bunch in that small space. I may end up doing this if the extensions take away from what i had. i was using a leather hand wrap over the body anyway so i could totally hide those cells. i could also use a piece of sink tube over that, under the leather to make it more secure.

what would the runtime be like with two 14500s?

If you run them in // then run time would be about 35 minutes. In series, you would get 45-50 minutes.

For a rebel I would just use 2 14650s. You would get over an hour run time over the 45min with 14500s.
