Anakin conversion with a stock blade holder.

Im goint to convert my anikan but i dont have enough money for the conversion kit. How would i be able to convert it and use a stock blade on it? Or would there be anouther emmiter that i could use to hold a CSS blade? It doesnt matter if it looks like anakin hilt at the top because it doesnt have grips or anything so its more of a customm modded anakin.

EDIT: I Changed the title because im now doing the conversion with a CSS blade.

There's a thread on this... to the index you must look. You can use all stock parts if you can find a decent method of heatsinking the LED. You don't even have to make a new holder as long as you keep the stock blade, and it's just sanding if you want to use an upgraded blade.[:)]

Thanks for the help! How much sanding would be needed? And i havnt made a saber or done any led type things so i may need help later in the game.

The MR blade is 25mm and a 1" upgraded blade is about 25.4mm... not much. How you get that done depends. By hand it might be a while. If you help it along with a dremel or something, less.

Ok im buying the parts but i need help. The luxion collimater lens is out of stock. Do i need this? Or could i make it without it?

You definitely need the lens. It focuses the light from the LED up the blade. It might be possible to make something from scratch, but I doubt it would work anywhere near as well.

I'm sure it isn't the same. You might be able to make it work somehow, but it still probably won't do as well as a real Luxeon collimator lens.

Yeah, I took one from a flashlight to try once... it was crappy. It was the exact same shape and size but it didn't reflect the light nearly as well.

Well first i took a swing at a lamp post. Less then half the blade lit up after that. Next I opened up the saber took out the blade and pulled out the leds. Then I found wher the burnt out ones started and broke it off. Next i cut the foam the dremeled off the extra plastic blade. Then I matched the holes to were they were on the bottom of the original blade and put them on the shorter one. After that I put everything back together and voila! I thought it was pretty cool but im stil gonna convert it. It only took about 5 minutes to make the blade shorter.

The blade from the emiter up is 1 foot exactly[:D]. I didnt even realise it till I measured it. The hilt is 11 and a half inc. I also have a modded switch that is more like the vader fx sabers.

Btw does anyone know how to connect a battery pack to the disconected led strip? I think im goin to put the blade in a minature hilt and display it.

I meant by using the sounds and stuf for the conversion then instead of throwing out the blade connecting a battery to it to just make it light up.

When you cut the wiring from the led strip leave some wire so that you can connect two wires that you can attach to a battery. I did this with a strip, don't know what to do with it though[:D]

Congrats dude, you won't be disappointed. I like that you got the blade to make yourself. The cool thing is that if you find 40 inches to long like several of us do you can trim it down slowly untill you find your sweet spot.

i'm gonna make my own blade too and i was wondering if you glue in the diffuser or just roll it up and slide it in the poly C

Yeah this is my first saber and i will be asking alot of qustions when the part comes. I sure hope I dont screw up soddering the wires to the LED. Iv only done it once b4 and that was on the switch for my anakin.

Lol. It ends up the soldering wire i was using was WAY to big. I went to wal-mart and found some that were better sized. On anouther note my stuff is SHIPPED![:D] I cant wait but i dont think it will come till next week and im workin all week. And the week after im leaving for camp[B)]. So Tim's Anakin Conversion holder was made to hold the 1" blades and not the stock blades correct? If so good, as I hate the stock blades and love Tim's.
