You really need to get Tims blade holder and sink tube adapter it will make your conversion to led much smiplier.

You will not find anything cheaper and not a boat load os hassle. Do yourself a favor and get Tim's holder.

Some of the pittly little stuff you could buy locally, but others it's A LOT of work to make a substitute. The hardest thing would be the heatsink and to a lesser extent the holder.

there is no way you can make an led without tims holder unless you machine the aluminum yourself which will be a pain because
1) you might not have a lathe
and
2) it will cost you more money, and your going for the cheapest deal, so buy from tim.

There are ways... it's not like LED sabers were invented by TCSS.[:p] It's just really difficult.

You are generally correct that it requires machining skills, but more for the heatsink than the holder. A PVC holder can be made with a lot of work.

PVC is not that great because you still need to find the right size, and i think that a metal blade holder is the sturdiest.

Unless you are a machinist, or sleep with the daughter of a machinist...order from Tim. Get the Sink tube to MHS adapter, and a blade holder. It will save you SO much time.

you can make good blade holders too if you have a welder. you don't need to machine, but most probly don't have a welder either.

i am a nerd, if you don't like it, i will cut you with my lightsaber

This is one of those topics that I just shake my head at. We have all done a saber made out of all the little pieces parts and Tim is kind enough to have the PERFECT hardware special EL tutorial. I admit that I have tried a few different things more for curiosity and being impatient then anything else. The thing is that really by the time you add up all the things to buy to make a GOOD blade holder and LED heat sink that you have not saved much and if you count in your time it is cheaper and easier to spend the less then 30 bucks for the led holder and sink tube adapter.
