Today I got to go, and observe an event trooped my by garrison, was pretty cool, and entertaining. But getting up at 4am to go downtown was not so nice. [:(] Because someone already had dibs on being Vader for the day, I was invited to come down, and observe, and take pictures. So here is a pictorial on some of the 3 hour event. [^][:D]

Trooping are Midwest Garrison's SL-356, TK-084, TK-1043, and Midwest Garrison's CO Herself, TK/ID-9989.

A tiny bit with all the fun they were having, but not so much because If I suited up, I would have had to be there at 5:30 am, and not the 6:30 that I got there! [:D][^]

The cool thing is that you got to see how everything went and what not, my first troop I was like um what do I do and to make matters worse I was the first suited up so I went out first and then was really dumbfounded [:p]

you said it was 3 hours long? that woulda been easy to do with my cooling vest on. looks like it was overcast, maybe a bit humid, but not real hot. and yea, i betcha was really wanting to be vader that day.

when i ever get in, someday, it'll be harder for me to go to stuff, unless, by chance i can gettem to do things up here in tulsa area in ok. theres lots of childrens benefits going on every year here. like early this year i dressed up for the bowl for kids. big bros and sis's org. raisin money to help the kids.

maybe i can put a bug in their ears next year if i make it in, to troop up here for that event, it would bring in lots of extra money for them. i myself, raised a lil extra in pics taken to give to them.

thats right up their alley. so maybe a note to the garrison leader of my area, once im in.

That's why I went, I didn't bring any of my gear, just was invited to observe, and take pictures, which both were fine with me. This garrison likes when you come out to obesrve first, gets you up to speed before you actually suit up! [:D][^]

well, i said that, cuz, after lookin in the star garrison, i found only 5 vaders and most were in texas. now theres sometroopers here in ok. but i seen no vaders. and if i could get the 501st up here for some benefits, i might have a good chance at pullin vader time. at least here. any place like down in texas, i would have to do vacation time to make it, and stay at a motel. and have someone with me, either wife or daughter to help me get in and out of the suit. its not a one man band gettin in and out of that thing.

Let me just give a shout out to all the 501st. members and all the Tireless work you all do and congradts on starting the Anniversary Year off right(Rose Parade). Eventhough I am a Jedi I will be camping out with many of my fellow Jedi and in full support of you all, Awesome Pic's. You should have been vader, but then there is always next time.

The pictures of the sandtrooper really don't do him justice, he has some sweet lookin' gear.
Although I would have loved to have been the Vader that day, being it was on TV and all, I wanted to see what it was all about first, and i'm glad I did. I ended up talking to my garrison's CO for about a half an hour after the event, and she made a comment about me coming out, on our forum, and she gave me lots of free goodies like some 501st trading cards (yes just like baseball cards!), one was her, and one was an "event" card, and some legion, and garrison temporary tattoos, and I even got two free tee shirts from the TV station. [:D][8D][^]
So it was very cool dispite not suiting up. [^]
The other thing going on was this Vader had some "health issues", so I put in my dibs if he couldn't make it, and I wanted to make sure I went to show I was serious, even though you only have to do two events per year to maintain your status as an "active member". [^][:D]

yeah, 2 events, man, that might be my only problem. with the main bunch in texas, i bet i'd have to drive down to texas 2 times a year, unless, like i said, at least one time, i could gettem up here for a local event of some kind. i know i can go to several places around here, and set something up as a fund drive for some kids something or another. theres benefits like that around here all the time.

so then i'd only have one run to make outta town.
