I found something interesting inside my MR blade today. It was blade film. Just like the film Corbin uses. Has anyone else found rolled up film inside their MR blades?

it was paper film rolled up inside the white diffuser. I had to stick my middle finger way down the blade to reach it

Maybe, but that's why Corbin sells the double wrap... Alex had always stated that the TCSS diffuser was easier, but something must have changed to make the effort worth it.

Its the MR blade that ultra sent me my saber with. Thin walled polyC tube with white diffuser thats practically stuck in the blade. No mirror in the tip. i have an unconverted anakin saber and the blades look exactly alike. Its deffinately and MR blade. I guess ultra just stuck some corbin film in there. thats all there is to it really. Is that what his "ultra" blades are? Or are those something he makes on his own?

ok the best thing to do is to take the film out cause then it will dim the saber more, so if you have to stick it up your eye socket to see the coring effect then take it out cause there is no use for it, and use it later for another saber

I rolled up the blade film, not perfectly though. I stuck it inside my TCSS blade and I think it seems to make the blade just a bit brighter, no coreing effect though. Maybe some of you guys should try experimenting with it, see what you come up with.

Darth Frieds

Alrighty then. After much experimentation with my MR blade and TCSS blade, I have come to my final conclusion. They are actually brighter without the corbin film. I think that the corbin film works better by itself, and when mixed with a white diffuser, the brightness gets dimmer.

You put a drop off glue on the back of the mirror then use the foam mr diffuser to push the mirror up into the blade

You don't have to take the diffuser out, just the foam. The easy way to do it is glue the back and take a 3/4 or 1/2 inch dowel and use it to push the mirror in.On stock blades the tip and diffuser are glued together

Do-Clo
08-11-2006, 02:58 PM
Oh, you bought a converted MR from Ultra, then you don't have the foam diffuser that is around the led strip inside the blade don't pull on the other diffuser. You will have to use a wooden dowel to push the mirror in the blade.

thanks do-clo, yeah, i guess ultra fixed this one pretty good but not perfect. I have an unconverted anakin saber as well that i will be converting with tims conversion kit. I don't notice the blade diffuser as foam but i guess i'll find out when i open it up won't I?

Do-Clo

When you take the blade apart on the anakin you will see the foam that holds the leds and acts as a diffuser also.

edit- o and btw, if you want to take the tip/diffuser out of the mr blade, heres a tip, cut off at least 1 inch from the bottom of the tip and the use some plyers and pry out the inside of the tip then use a file to smooth out the bottom of it. [;)]

I think I'll go with the whole useing the foam idea. trying to get the diffuser out is too much trouble. i'm just trying to get a mirror on the tip. I'm still not sure which i would rather use, the mirror or the aluminum adhesive disk. Whats the difference?

try scraping the disk with the top of the dowl to get it off. it might scratch the inside of the tube but at least you won't have a dark spot

this idea is very far out but you might be able to tie a chiesl shaped exacto knife to a dowl and shave off the sticker. however, then you would have to buy a new disk since that one would be dead
