I want feedback from you who know so much about the ways of electricity.

I know that resistors are generally great to restrict voltage to what an LED needs.

HOWEVER...
If your battery voltage is between the LED's optimun and max voltage - is it not ideal to skip the resistor?

This matters to me as I embark on wiring my fist K2, and soon to assemble custom rechargeable batteries.

K2 (needs 3.7 - 4.9 volts @ 1500ma)
Battery pack to be 4.8 volts max

Thoughts anyone?

i'm not an electritian but that sounds like it would work just fine. just don't put in regular batteries cause your led will go boom [xx(]

MC I would put a resistor in anyway, pick the optimum voltage for the led and then use a resistor to set the currect, I posted a method on how to figure out the resistor needed or just use a resistet caculater but I would take a wag and say probably 1 ohm.
