View Full Version : Small, retractable wrist blade

hey guys :)
I'm making a wrist mounted retracting lightsaber (see assassins creed) with either a 5 or 8 inch blade. since it is so short would a 1W Red luxeon suffice or would i be able to mount the electronics for a 3w red in the same amount of space needed for a 1w?
Also has anyone tried a flat sheet or two of plexi glass wrapped in a diffuser of some sort to make a blade? would this require a specific lens?

oh, and i probably wont use a sound board, just to save space. the electronics are either going to be strapped to my arm in a small hobby box(maybe an altoids tin would work?) or on the mechanical device used to retract the blade, which will be about 12 inches.
Criticism is welcome :)

This topic does not belong in this section, I'm moving it.

Thanks for the help, but my main enquiry was about the proper blade length and what LED would best fit it. I'm not building a hilt, the other info was side notes i thought i'd add.

I can move it to LED Blade discussion if you'd rather have it there.

I don't mind, just sayin, i'm really interested in the shorter blade and how that would work, not so much the rest of the build :)

i would still use a 3W LED. you can underdrive it however much you need.
