This is my first real project on a lathe, sixth saber overall. I remember playing Dark Forces on my dad's computer when I was little, so this one is a bit special to me.

6061 Aluminum with brass accents
Seoul P4 Green
1000mA Buckpuck
TrustFire Li-ion Batteries
No Sound

I intend to re-machine a few of the body segments before I ship it off to its new owner; they don't fit quite as snugly as I would like. I also don't know how the paint will hold up being in such prominent places. I followed equinox13's (awesome) baking tutorial, so hopefully it'll be ok.

I was too lazy to break out the drop cloth, so I opted for a more industrial setting. My apologies on the mediocre lighting. Half the lights in my office (the ones on my side) don't work. More photos, including some build shots and diagrams, in the Flickr set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/toukejin/sets/72157625813997637/).

Thoughts?

Thanks everyone. For reference I used whatever really bad screenshots turned up in a Google image search for the live-action segments of Dark Forces II, as well as a diagram credited to 'Loneken' whom I cannot seem to find.

Great pics! That P4 is BRIGHT! How did you construct the emitter plug?

This has always been one of my favorite sabers and you worked it into life beautifully. :)

The plug is just a piece of acetal around with a shallow hole in one side for a 3/4" metal disc and a deeper 1/2" hole on the other to let a bit more light through.

Always really liked your work Toukejin, so no surprise I like this too. EU sabers can be a bit hit and miss, but this katarn is real nice.

Impressive work, and yep if you used Azmaria's tut (<-formerly equinox13 ;)) for baking enamel... then that is the least of your worries (for realz).. 2 thumbs up!

ok that one i won't abide by. i'm not a master. if you want to use ANY dominant titling with me, use Ms. or Mistress.

Toukejin

I meant no disrespect; are senior female Jedi not called master? 'Jedi Mistress' just sounds... odd. I'll stick to Azmaria if it wouldn't be too presumptuous.

Az or Azmaria is fine. in the star wars universe all jedi masters are... well, masters, regardless of gender. but it's been a long day and some people in OTHER circles where it's NOT ok called me that right before you and i kinda snapped. sorry about that.

also, the sith use master and mistress depending on gender, so you could look at it that way too. i was certainly acting darkside-ish. ^_^

by the way, if you ever decide to make more of these, let me know over on FX - i use the same name there as here.

In my Fan Force, we do some role playing in our lightsaber class. There was a "Sith Master" who wanted to train me, so I "fell to the Darkside" and called myself "Lady Pernicia" (a feminized version of the word pernicious 1. causing insidious harm or ruin; ruinous; injurious; hurtful. 2. deadly; fatal.).

But I was later redeemed and came back to the Lightside. :)

you see THAT... is always the question.. Can the redeemed ever truely purge themselves of the deeds.., the struggles, the memories, indeed... the.. experiences that drove them towards what some would call an.. awakening.. a day which brings such change.. it writes its own legacy.. Yes.. THAT is the question

EDIT!: besides that name is HOT!!!

once down the dark path you go, forever will it dominate your destiny.

Well, I do like to try and back stab people in our team games.

I'm closer to a Gray Jedi. I don't always want to follow the Rules of the Jedi Council. Kind of like how Qui-gon was. I do what I think needs to be done, in the way I think it needs to be done. ;)

"Only Sith deal in absolutes Darth" ;)

And for readers of Expanded Universe - Luke went darkside for a while (Emperor Reborn period) and redeamed himself to the lightside.

Jedi-Loreen

But didn't he do that partially so he could gain the Cloned Emperor's confidence to get close enough to him to kill him?

Yes - but when dealing with the dark side, do the ends justify the means?
Luke dealt with that "taint" for a long time afterwards.

I've just outted myself as a major Star Wars geek haven't I ;)

Azmaria Dei
03-14-2011, 03:24 PM
Leia and family turned Luke back to the light side, but it was Mara Jade that helped him remove the taint completely.

if i remember right, that is...

You are correct =)
although not sure if it was removed completely or not (she did help though for sure).

Not to revive a (semi)dead thread, but here's a few pictures of what I did this week.

Remachined three body pieces with extended shoulders for extra stability. The prototype was just a tad wobbly. Also moved a set screw up to hide it under the shield like it was supposed to be all along.

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5298/5537448469_bdb97924f9_z.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/toukejin/5537448469/)

I do so love how brass ages to that deep orange-gold.

And just for the heck of it, here's the second version next to the prototype. The only parts I reused were the pommel and shield. (So I get to remake those at my leisure and keep it for myself, heh).
