I've been working on this of a few weeks now. I decided to start with the tabard & modify a Kataginu pattern for the purpose. This is the near complete right side & I'm thinking of the Jedi & Republic sigils just below the shoulders.

Here are the WIP outside & inside left parts.

http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww349/Jecull/Lightsabers/IncompleteLeftInside.jpg

As I'd run out of pieces large enough to fill in the space at the flare with one piece so I had to patch in on this side. This is what it looks like partially ironed down for hand sewing...

...and just after.

Many little stitches await my hands. This is the complete inside right shoulder seam.

This is what it'll roughly look like when it's together. I don't remember what type of fabric the tabard is but the tunic is linen and the under tunic is synth-linen.

So this is getting down there. I need to hand sew the center back down on the inside then run it over on the outside with the machine to keep it in place.
http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww349/Jecull/Lightsabers/DSCN3662.jpg

I'm thinking of the four tenants of the Jedi Code on the thin panels or my own Knowledge, Practice, Experience, & Wisdom as sigils in Galactic Standard. What do you think?

Back from the hiatus on this project. I separated out the lower panels on the back to insert darts and a fillet so it would fit my back better.

The front showing the French Seamed detail.

Then a couple of images with the Obi, which still needs a bit of work, front & back, to check fit and balance.

Got mostly finished on the Inner Tunic today before I broke my last needle. This was pretty much straight off the Kimono pattern save shortening the length, changing the neckline, incorporating the overlap panels into the front pieces, and adding the shoulder slope. I'm leaving off the sleeves as the Tabard doesn't breathe well so I want to cut down on extra material.

Awesome! and from scratch... Uniquely yours, making it all the better...

I can't wait to see the finished product! Hopefully it includes pants, though... Your legs are hairy, bro! :D

ROFLMAO! My wife got a great laugh out of that too. So....yes there will be pants, thank you very much for asking. But....there could be a Scottish Jedi in my future! ;)

Q: What's a Scot wear unner his Kilt?

A: His Ghillie Brogues, of course!

Dude, that's pretty sweet. Good job. I like your idea for a kilt wearing Jedi. If done right that could look pretty cool.

And now we get to the "Going to Training in Missouri" portion of this costume. No updates will be had for the next couple of months.

Just working on getting my head back into this costume. You can see where the Jedi Tuck comes from on the Outter Tunic, left side. After the sleeve is attached, that seam gets rolled under and back toward the inside center. I'm going to bring that line back to my shoulder.

Thank you, Dave. The blue is from the serger and will get covered when the hems and collar are finished off. Picked up some boots yesterday...

Holy Crap, a real update?! Yes it is, my Jedi bretheren! Seriously thinking about Sage or Olive Green for the pants now. These are an old pair of sweats that I'd had on but I like the look...

http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww349/Jecull/Lightsabers/DSCN3786.jpg

I've got to make the set of gauntlets (similar idea to RotS) that'll attach to the arms.

I wear a pair of leather bracers on the outer layer of my scratch-designed costume. Someday (probably soon, since I just put in an order to finally finish the saber) I'll get some decent pictures. I might send you some pictures of the bracers though. They're hand cut/stitched 7oz leather. Cost me $25 for the pair.

Thanks, rouge, it's been an interesting costume to do the way I've wanted. Kuro, I'd like to see what you have. I had a set of red Cayman, made for archery, but the ex ran off with them a few years ago. I've got some nice disteressed synthetic so we'll see how my pattern works out.

Thank you, Sith sir! :) I'm still hacking away on the basic layout for these. I plan on permanent attachment to the arms of the Outter Tunic...

Are those the sleeves of your main tunic? If so they look a bit short to me, and also could be widened slightly for that "jedi" feel. Just my opinion, though.

Otherwise it's looking awesome!

Here are the basic gauntlets, still needing to add the straps, buckles, and loops. I'll topstitch the border a couple of time to reflect the necklines of the tunics and maybe add a couple of glyphs.

http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww349/Jecull/Lightsabers/DSCN3879.jpg

Just to get an idea of how they look against the outter tunic.

Thank you, Duncan. I learn with every weird thing I try out. Some day I'll try making a fitted dress shirt just to see if I can do something normal for once! ;)

Back at it after a bit of ruining the Harley and getting rear ended on the way to an interview I bring these images...

Bashed and modified version of two "Vulcan" glyphs. I was going fo a stylized dragon.
http://i734.photobucket.com/albums/ww349/Jecull/Lightsabers/BracerGlyphs.jpg

Then with half of the copper edging down and the glyph on the back. These will be done in copper also. I'm contemplating knocking the shine down with a wash of pale green.

Here we are with the edging done, half of it washed with the pale green then dry brushed again in copper, and the Kryat Dragon (?) glyph ready for the wash/dry brush.

Thank you, Tom. I've been learning quite a bit from it too. Here's the finished pair. I've been contemplating doing a set of greaves in the same finish...

The only thing left to do is resew the elastic on the gauntlets and make the greaves but close enough to done to call it as such.

HA HA HA that is some fine photoshop work And you did a great job with your outfit. I am thinking of making one too, I really like luke style in rotj

Boj-Vaati Mau

I like that one too. The biggest thing on any Jedi is to form fit the tabbard. Measure out the shoulder width and the waist, decide how much space you want on the sides, divide that measure by 4, then decide how wide you want the below the waist. Those pieces should look like a lopsided wine glass when drwan out. Double over your fabric when you cut it so you don't have the shoulder seam then make 4 of them. Add a bit of velcro near the neck to hold them up, sew two sets, press them flat, and viola!

Hey Boj, it's been a while. I like the costume. It seems simple enough, at least for a seamstress, (or the male counterpart).

Wow, costume is just pure awesome, especially the gauntlets
