Hello everyone, this is my second replica saber. I built this saber for Lance (Darth Xanthus). He sent me a message on facebook saying, "Hey I think this would make a great pvc saber." So I took the hint & built it. I just finished it today. :D
The hilt of course is pvc. :) It has a black mat grip, black covertech wheel, 1" trans white thick walled blade, 5 degree lens, Lux III red led, Obi Wan econo board with pnp transister & resistor, 1" premium speaker, & is powered by 3 AAA batteries. I'm really happy with the way this saber turned out. :D Here are some pics.

First some inside pics. Here is the speaker chamber, batteries, & sled. I used some scrap 1" thin walled blade stock for the sled. This stuff works great for 1" pvc.

And a video. These new econo boards sound awesome & they're pretty sensitve.

Thank you everyone for the great feed back. Wade, I want to thank you & everyone who figured out & locked down the wiring for the new 2010 hasbro boards. That board sounds really good. :D

Nice saber man. I like the newer sounds of the hasbro boards too. Makes me want to get one more just for the soundboards. :p I like how the clashes randomly goes off because it reminds me of the old movie sabers how the clashes would randomly go off. (Picture the old Darth Vader and Obi-wan fight or maybe when Luke was training). Hope the little dude is liking his saber.

DUDE!...
That saber is wicked! I loved how you were so casual... "and the emmiter..." That's the best part of the saber! nice job man.

Thank you everyone for the great feedback. I really love the way this saber turned out. I made the emmiter by using 1 1/2" pvc on top of the 1 1/4" & dremeled the bevels. The 1 1/2" &
1 1/4" pvc don't fit together, I had to sand down the OD of the 1 1/4" piece & the ID of the 1 1/2" piece to get them to go together. I jused JB Weld to glue them together. I did feel a little bad for gutting the Obi Wan. I had it for about two months before I gutted it. I was playing with it the kids were playing with it. That board though is clearly marked & easy to desolder, & wire back up. It really does sound good.

I really do like the sounds of the newer Hasbro boards. The hum, swings, clashes, power on/off sounds more movie accurate now. The swings reminds me of the Episode I sounds. I hope to give a board a try one of these days. Will probably most likely be in March when I get my old job back and have enough money saved up. But I'm getting a first half stack guitar amp rig put in layaway on Tuesday so, yeah. I will post pics of that too if you want to see the amp rig, well, I'm going to try and get early pics when I'm at the store.

Thanks guys. Garcia, that's cool. What kind of half stack are you getting?

A Crate 120 watt amp head and a Randall 25 watt 1x12 speaker cabinet. My one buddy told me to stay away from Crate amps though because he said they weren't all that great. He said the Randalls are killer though. Will the cabinet still be loud even though it said 25 watts? And I will try and get a new saber made within the next few monts with the Hasbro board. I was wondering about that, can I use TCSS constant currant led driver with the soundboard? I really don't want to get anything like the transistor if I don't have to. Thanks for the info.

I used the Obi-Wan Kenobi Force Action saber sound card for my first and I like it a lot. The only thing I don’t like it the flashing when you turn it on and off but that can be fixed. Very nice saber, I had no idea a PVC saber could like so real.

Another great saber by Darth Midian. Thanks so much for freely sharing all your tricks of the trade- you were the first that friended me when i first joined and was a wealth of knowledge on all things PVC. Come summer I hope to show you what I have learned.

Crates are good. a friend of mine had a Crate head for about 10 years before it blew. Randells are good, I believe Dimebag Darrel played through a Randell. He's one of my favorite guitarists.

Sorry J-Lo, He mention he was going to start a saber after he picks up his new rig, & me being a musician as well asked him what kind of amp he was getting. Getting new equipment is exciting. :)

Thank you AC, those boards do sound good. I don't mind the flash so much. I didn't think I would like it, but it doesn't look bad with the polyc blades.

Nice Saber! It's always fun seeing your PVC sabers since I make PVC ones as well! I have two new sabers going right now... One is for a engineer at my work and that has to be perfect...(No stress there!LOL) and the other is for a friends grandson for his birthday. Should be fun! Thanks for sharing!
