its a 2003 model; we're in 2007.
its EL; all new models are LED-based.

the Luke ROTJ later model is also LED-based. you can still get the Luke LED-version, but the older EL version is hard to come by.

Not sure with how Tim wants to deal with comments in this forum...

Ebay or another friendly collector is your only option. It will most likely cost more simply because less were made.

Not sure at all why you'd want it though. Other than collectors value the LED version is the same hilt with a brighter blade.

You're not a collector if you want to convert it. The idea of collecting is to have a mint version in it's stock form.

In that case it doesn't matter whether it's the LED or EL version, the hilt is the same.

what I meant was Im going to get all of the peices and build it again and make it an exact replica of the replica fx and possibly if i need the money, sell it for $$$$$ on ebay :D

I have one of these and found it almost impossible to change it into an led with the original board. Is it worth keeping the hilt and buying a board from Tim? Will it even all fit as it is quite cramped inside? Or would selling it on ebay be my best option, and picking up a 2005 model be the cheaper route?

I broked my EL one....... (insert sad face here....)

If memory serves, these are a real pain to convert, basically you have to rebuild the board. (well, not that extreme, but you get the idea)

It's current incarnation is a face-lifted custom job in MattB's collection.

My advice: Keep it. The EL's are hard to come by. Just save up & grab a cheap 07 model on Ebay.
