Hi!
I am new here.
I was wondering if TCS can do MR FFX to UltraSabers using a removable Luxeon blade and make it able to change colors?

I am REALLY interested in getting a MR FFX Anakin converted to a UltraSaber...
Ive had lousy luck getting one at ebay since they tend to go over $400+ just to get it converted.

Any response is greatly appreciate.
Thanks in advanced!

TeddyV!

Welcome! Did you look around? All your questions could be answered if you looked.

Ultrasabers is another guy and he does his own thing. Styrdurs conversions are very similar though. Also did you know Ultra Sabers offers his conversions for a set price at www.ultrasabers.com with no need to compete on ebay?

You could get what you wanted here by ordering the conversion to a white 3w luxeon LED and then buying the colored disc to put in between the blade and LED.

ultra's sabers are not really color changing. you just change the disk to change colors. one thing that is very good about TCSS is that tim's conversions use aluminum, not the stock blade holder.

i am a nerd, if you don't like it, i will cut you with my lightsaber

Hi Guys!!

Thanks for your responses..

well I checked out the Ultrasabers.com and I dont see any fixed pricing.
Till then I am going to try my luck here and get me one of these dualble sabers and since while I am at it I will just order the 12 gel discs..

Thank you for your help peeps!
You guys are awesome..

xwingband,
there is a huge difference between tim's and ultra's conversions:
you ask what it is? Tim's will never break!

None of mine have ever broken, either, Gelu, but we'll not get into the bashing here, ok? I just thought I'd share some knowledge where I could, so let's all get along.

Teddy, I used to do conversion on my site, but I'm just a bit overwhelmed right now and stopped taking orders so I could catch up. Strydur has a great service, tho, so you're in good hands.

I know how that is Ultra..Doesnt help when you have suppliers jerking ya around. I asked for a tracking number for some stuff supposedly shipped last week from europe..they finally give me one and it says shipped yesterday next day air lol...that had to hurt.

Yeah, the bashing of UltraSWG's stuff was not needed. Both do good work and have never heard of either "breaking".

I restrained myself from getting rude with the original poster. Example of how the post came off to me: You don't go to McDonalds and ask if they make Whoppers.

GeluKhanGharr

Sorry Ultra, I didn't mean to bash your work. I was brown-nosing Tim. I haven't had any work from you, so I am not in the position to express opinions on the quality of it. I just heard yours is plastic as opposed to Tim's aluminium. I've bought quite a few emitters from Tim and am thoroughly impressed. Like I stated before, I don't think his will EVER break, even if you try real hard.[:D] It wasn't about the actual work you do, only about the materials at your dispossal. Again, sorry if it came across the wrong way.

xwingband,
it wasn't like your example, it was more like you walk into McDonalds and state the BigMac is better than the Whopper because it has crispier lettuce - or at least that's the way I intended it. On second thought, was that example intended for me?

GeluKhanGharr,

I was refering to the original poster TeddyV and him asking if he could get an "Ultra Saber" here from TCSS.

UltraSWG
12-07-2005, 07:31 PM
Hmmm, why not? Soon people can get a TCSS saber from Ultra Sabers. We may have to work out a product-swap marketing deal, Strydur. [;)]

I think Ultra has done an awsome job at creating a brand name. There is a buzz on eBay around the name UltraSaber. It seems people have started to call UltraSabers all Lux converted MRs. You don't ask for a tissue, you call it directly "a kleenex". Same here.

Hmmmmm, misa think'o something...

True, I understand that but I guess it depends on the person. I consider it almost a form of ignorance. It's like iPod becoming a moniker for MP3 player, TiVo = PVR, Xerox = copy, etc... I just call it what it is. I'm pretty sure ebay is the reason we get some many do you do this/how can I do this posts because people see those up on ebay and do a google search because the prices are getting too high for them on ebay.

On topic, it's great to hear more people exchanging ideas. With so many on different tangents to the same thing I think it would help to get the best blade by sharing ideas. Sorry though, I think hyperdyne's prototype blade has stolen my heart.[:p]

My verdict is out until he shows that they really can withstand heavy dueling. There are plenty of bright sabers out there like plasma etc that even have a nicer grow/retract. If they actually can withstand dueling like he says and the price isnt outrageous then they should sell really well.

I ordered from Ultrasabers, still waiting for the product, but I'm not complaining. Its still within a reasonable time frame, and Ultrasabers told me they're working on it.

No need for rivalry. I've seen that happen in too many cottage-shop hobbies such as sci fi models & such.

I haven't bought from Strydur yet, though I'm very enthusiastic and I probably will buy something in the future.

Hey Whopper, send me an email so I can check the status of your order, ultra@ultrasabers.com

And I don't think Strydur and I have any kind of rivalry going on since we do plenty of business together and I use his products in my sabers. It's all good.

Yeah, thanks guys. I didn't notice any between you 2, just noticing some comments (which you guys already addressed) that could be interpreted as such.

I think converting sabers is less subject to some of the bad things going on in other fan driven products.

And again, the wait time from the stuff I ordered from UltraSWG is still within a completely reasonable time frame. No complaints.

Maybe if the dust ever settles at your shop, Ultra, you could start up a forum there so we could all bask in yours and Tim's shared glory of what has become a strong foundation to 'Saber making[:o)] Just think of it, not just getting off topic here, but bogging down your page too![:D]

On a serious note, thanks to Tim and Ultra, along with JediLoreen for showing us ignorants the Way. I intend to begin an LED blade shortly and will be using both services. Since CSS does EL as well, I'll keep allegience here for that.

Yes, (1st time poster) thanks for taking a FANTASTIC item, and taking it to a much higher level!!! As a StarWars fan, this is just awesome!!! You guys are great!!! I've been talking to Ultra about doing some conversions for me, and I've also bought supplies from Tim, both of you, are a godsend for us fans!!!
I just hope MR doesn't steal your ideas, and incorporate them into their design. [8D][:D]

Eh, last thing we need is yet another forum, there's plenty of em and this one is great. We got all the saber builders here sharing ideas and stuff, it's like one big happy sweatshop. If we put our minds together, we could take over the world and get the ultimate achievment - worldwide fame and a lawsuit from George! I say we go for it!

xwing, someone else did the spy work for us. As bright as they are, Hyperdyne's blades are still a dissapointment to me. They're simply MR-like with more powerful LEDs. So when it comes to dueling they're still nothing but display pieces. And very likely without removable blades. Here it is:

http://thecuttingedge.s5.com/redsaber_proto%28hue-saturation-contr-bright%29.jpg

The only edits are " hue, saturation, contrast and brightness."

Yup, I saw that on TFN. I don't post there but I read ocassionally (There's too much going on at such a big place). It's not "spywork" as much as he knows his way around photoshop more than the average bear.[:D]

Hyperdyne has to offer something better than just a more powerful MR... He can't be keeping it such a secret if that's all it is. I was disappointed with the "duel test". I really wanted to see him at least break the MR if not take a swing like a baseball bat. (EDIT: I just read on ASAP that he broke the the MR in his second duel test. Video coming soon. This may actually show that he came up with a solution.[:D])

I'll reserve my judgement until it ships and people pull it apart. If anything it's bright enough and good enough to light duel that I'd pay for it.
--------

Tangent thought: There's a limit to MR's strategy. When it gets too bright to even it out the diffuser would have to drastically cut down the brightness.

Have you ever ran an MR on 6 volts instead of 4.5? Big difference in brightness. Just a random thought.

Are you throwing that out as a possibility for what hyperdyne is doing? The picture shows 3 seperate banks which is not the way an MR is set up (correct me if I'm wrong).

If You take apart the MR Battery pack and the stupid connection pin piece you can add a 4 AA or a 4 AAA no problem. It also helps for those stuck with the din plug models to take the sensor off wire it direct and put it in with the sound board. Like Ultra said an extra 1.5 volts adds up! Space is always going to be a problem with everything in life. Gee i could use a bigger house since i got 4 padawans running around. LOL

What do you think about running one of these new LUX 5's in a Windu, or ROTJ 6-AA Sabers? According to their SPEC SHEETS HERE=http://www.led-bulbs.com/html/prolight/5W.pdf
They need 8v max, and their lumens look great (on Paper)[?]

Strydur
01-10-2006, 01:19 AM
I could be wrong here and I guess it doesnt really matter but a Lux 5 is not made by prolight. Prolight is a brand of LED and Luxeon is a different brand. But they do both have 5W LED's. Anyways here is what you can find from using the search function.

http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/sabers/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=174

Most of us are waiting for the K2's as they need less cooling than a 5W but are around the same brightness.
