Hi, I will be building my first Lightsaber sometime next year and I'm currently in the planning stages.
I looked at this thread here (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?6430-n00b!-So-you-want-to-build-a-MHS-saber-huh) and will base my saber around that tutorial because i just want a basic, simple saber.
I've chosen my parts, please let me know if I'm missing anything. I wouldn't want order stuff then find out I'm missing a piece halfway through building.

the only 2 things i can see are a bit of extra wire (get a second JST connector and you'll be good) and an MPS Clip (http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/MPS-Clip--P72.aspx).

be sure you choose the right resistor in the kit for your chosen battery solution too.

on another note, i would seriously advise you to use the P4 kit if you want a white or red LED. especially since the Luxeon III LEDs are no longer being made and are out of stock with no hope of getting more any time soon.

Good luck, have fun, and welcome! ^_^

Yeah ..and notice the resistor values are for 1.5V cells. If you go NIMH rechargeable it's only 1.2V each. P4 are much brighter too. And for a 2 wire connector, the JST are nicer, take up less room and are better quality.

Unless you have plans for a soundboard you may want to change your switch to latching. Having to hold in your switch to keep your blade lit would be a huge bummer.

Oh and it may be a bit long. The MHS builder is being updated and not working quite right at the moment so the measurements are way off.

yeah i forgot to mention that - that saber would be about 15-16" long...

Yeah, you can always use an extension of any length instead of a main body and get the switch hole service if you need it.
This version of the builder works better for now...http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/mhsbuilder/

Thanks for the help! I appreciate it. I've been reading alot more since I first started this thread and I realised that I'm nowhere near actually building the saber.
So, I have scrapped my original design and have come up with another which I think is alot better.

Parts List:
MPS Pommel style 3 v2, MPS Insert style 5, MPS Clip
5" Double female threaded connector
MHS ribbed extension v-grooved
Screw on LED blade holder style 8
SPST Latching Guarded switch with red button
LED "Corbin style" Battle blade 1" OD

Services/ Addons:
Milled cutouts for grip style 1 (to go on the female connector)
Grip style 1
Drill & Tap Hole ( As I have no access to a drill of any sort and I'm no good with tools ) 8-32 x 1/2" thumb screw
Machine Guarded style switch hole (will also go on the female connector)

Internal:
Build Your Own Seoul P4 Electronics Kit
JST connectors
(I would also like to add recharchable batteries but havent researched that yet)
(Not sure If i will be needing extra wire as yet)

Power Coating:
MHS ribbed extension v-grooved - RGR3 - Black Chrome
Blade Holder Powder Coating - BH81 - Copper Vein

(Pic is abit off, but meh :P)

Also, I would love to add sound to this saber. I have 2 old toy sabers that have been stored away for years. Both have sound. I've searched around but don't think i can find the right wiring circuit stuff for them. I have an old Darth Vader force action light saber and an Episode 3 Obi Wan saber. I would like to use the sound card from one of these sabers but I have no idea how to wire them.

Its a big post, I know. But help a noob out please :)

Those grips can't be that big as you can see you going over threads like that. Should look into the grips and how to use them in your design some more.
