Warlord

This hilt was a challenge. I forced myself to incorporate ideas/techniques that I've never attempted, yet keep my personal 'style' that my hilts usually have. The forward section is all MHS, the rear grip is a 45 deg. piece of electrical conduit with a custom aluminum 'spine' & pommel with apoxy sculpt. The plates on the sides of the rear grip are sound vents and allow access to the recharge port if needed. The main power switch is an illuminated red ring mom. AV switch, the aux. switch is a mom. tactile switch just forward the main switch. The LED bargraph is a Madcow style SMD bargraph with low power indicator. The forward shroud is MHS shroud material. The armor plates are made from sheet aluminum, dremel cut, filed and formed by hand then molded to the shroud with apoxy sculpt. This hilt has some weathering, it is meant to look used but cared for.

it's either an armoured beast or the pistol for some dreaded pirate. either way it looks great. ^_^

Very impressive saber, love the armor plating and the curved grip. I think the weathering on the armor plates though really make the saber. You hit the nail on the head going for the used, but cared for feel.

My question is - which dread pirate...
Seriously though - that is very cool, and I love the armor plates on it.

Really cool looking ;) The grip section reminded me of an old flint-lock pistol from a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.

You gotta be kidding me! That's gotta be in my top 5 favorite sabers... Just wow!

Does the last pic mean that you made two of them? If so, can I have one? You know Xmas spirit and all... Please...

It has the look of a scorpion tail to it, to my thinking. Articulated, overlapping plates along a curve.

Over course, the armor plating also brings to mind Klingon influences as well. Extremely attractive saber.
I salute you, sir.

This is an amazing saber. I love the armor. And the gun style grip is something i have been wanting to do for ages. Very well executed.

That's awesome...the sculpting really makes this saber. Imagining it with flat overlay/plates just wouldn't compare. So if you the second one is going to have a PC in it does that make it the secondary of a set? That puts some limits on the animated SMD LEDs from what I can tell. Not that it matters much since the most appealing feature in this design is the overlay/sculpting.

The PC version will have a limited 4 SMD bargraph, two tied together and no low power indicator as the PC doesn't have that feature. I'd put a CF in it but I am not planning on keeping that hilt. The hilt in the video will be kept in my collection :)

You could do one as a power indicator(power to the board), 2 sequenced, and one matching the blade.

Thats a good idea also. I was thinking of having the two outside in // and the two inside // for a basic animation, I'll play with it once I get the board in. Thanks for the idea :)

Those were some rad looking hilts! Good job on them! I love the layered plating - I don't think I've seen anything similar.

Yeah man I was thinking sawn off shotgun. Nice saber. I like the plates too, might steal that idea for my next project.

Two of my favorite Science Fictions are obviously Star Wars, and Star Trek. That Saber has a hint of Klingon in it. I like it Very nice job.

You faulting me for also liking Star Trek? Well that your opinion, and your entitled to it. The Klingon look is mine. We all can't like the same thing.

That is a great looking saber. The layered plating on the hilt is absolutely awesome. I was floored when I saw your saber. Great work.
