MHS3 or "As the world turns the volume down"

the crystal chamber has a quartz and an RGB LED lighting it - the LED is setup so that as the battery level goes down, it slowly bleeds from violet to purple to red. i used an Obi econo board with the wiring that i've posted elsewhere - stunt with optional sound and the econo LED output going to a vibe motor. thankfully i had a motor that took the small amount of power that the Obi board puts out... the speaker is a (lol) 'premium' speaker from a dead laptop. i thought it was loud until i heard the TRULY premium speaker that Tim sells. i have a rubberized shroud/grip that i cut from a shielding/cushioning material from a dead laptop (another part scavenged from that thing ^_^). finally got the trim rings for it today, so that's why i'm finally putting this pic up now. the main LED is a red P4, chosen for the low voltage requirement, and so that it will stay on when the battery is close to dead.

Nice saber. So that small extension piece with the windows is actally a crystal chamber? I will have to try that on a next build sometime. I really like the trim rings too. And the rubber grips looks cool.

Ohh look at me my name is equinox13 and I do cool things with sabers... I make really nifty battery level indicators and should make a tutorial for drake on how to do that also. Again great work.

What are you using the small momentary for?

to trigger the soundboard. i mentioned that i wired it for stunt/optional sound w/vibe. that's my standard layout now. the schematic is elsewhere.

Do like!
And I think I'm coming to accept the optional stunt setup... a bit.
Also love that blade plug, whatever it is :D

it's just 2 razor heads glued back to back and stuffed into a chunk of blade. i did stuff some folded up corbin film into it to even out the light a bit though. ^_^

Excellent work, as always. I really like the combination of colours you chose, and the trim rings really bring the whole sabre together.

Hey. Another question, can I use the trims on blade holders, lets say blade holder 2 since its all flat on the sides?

You don't want to use it on a blade holder because they are set to have a certain amount of space between it and the next piece to allow the heat sink and LED assembly to be seated properly so they don't move.

Oh. I asked that because I was wanting to make a Jedi Apprentice styled saber. I was going to set the trim rings like in the middle of the blade holder.

Those parts aren't made to fit over MHS parts, but between them. So they wouldn't have the right ID for what you wanted to do with them.

Also, how would you secure them?

I go out of town for a few days and everyone has delusions of grandeur...(j/k & highjacked SW ref.)
Looks great Equinox! I really like the trim rings and paint job. And a pretty awesome idea on the PLI.
