Having problems with my lathe, was working with it(drilling) and it just stopped. I turned everything off and let it set for a few minutes and it started right back up, then after about 15-30 sec it stopped again. I checked the fuse....still good, even took the motor out and checked the wires and brushes. I also opened upt the electronics and made sure all the wires were still plugged in. I saw no apparent electronics dammage, and didnt smell anything fried inside. So, i put it back together and tried starting it again....it ran....but it only took like 5-10 sec and it stopped again....it may have stopped as i ramped up the speed....any ideas guys?....im not an electrician, my experience is basically tearign things down and putting them back together and have them still work....but i have no clue when it comes to components on a board....

Does the motor have oilers for the shaft end bearings? You might have a dry bearing heating up and seizing. A little machine oil may work wonders. Good luck!

Are there springs on the brushes? They may have compressed under the heat. They arn't always as good as they should be.

Try pulling them apart so that they will push the brushes onto the armeture better.

That's my guess. Hope it helps. It fixed my buffer.

Ambo once you eliminate the motor and wiring contact the manufacture of your lathe and find out what you need to do to get your control board replaced it should be under warranty and they should shipp you another one but you may have to send your board back first.
