This thread is for pics and videos of Jack-O-Lanterns that you have made this year. I know it is kind of early and mine will be rotten by Halloween but it was what my little girl wanted to do for her birthday. :D Anyway, here is a video and some pics of the one we made last night. It is called Mr. Meowkins. I got one of those little pumpkin lights that had white LEDs and they blinked constatnly and it was very annoying. So I ripped it open, got rid of the little circuit board that made the LEDs blink and just hot glued some green 5mm LEDs in the holes where the white ones were, put a TCSS standard latching switch and soldered them for direct drive with out a resistor. The power source is 2 AAA batteries wired in series so they work great with out a resistor. You must add a resistor for the amber and red LEDs so if you try this keep that in mind.

We carved our pumpkins last night. The dremel isn't just for building sabers. You can carve crazy eyes with it. Happy Halloween.:D

I think Next year I'll make the Yoda again with some TCSS LED's and parts.

That green light that I converted from a store bought Jack-O-Lantern light would look awesome in that Yoda O Lantern. It was cheap and very easy to do. I used a TCSS standard latching switch for it too. See, TCSS parts are great for more than just sabers. :-D

Well, it's 2011 now, but this is as good a place to post as any. I got my jack-o-lanterns done for this year.

The green has a 5w LedEngin green in it, the blue is running a P4 blue, and the red is a Rebel Deep Red. The green kinda overpowered my cell camera, but it looks great in person.

Here's a pic of my lighting modules. They're not pretty, but they get the job done!

Thats a lot of work and $ to light a jack-o-lantern... I hope you put a plug in case any smartass feels like looking at it or something.

BTW $5 gets you 4 LED packs with batteries for lanterns. I found them at my local Pharmaprix/Wallgreen/CVS stores. Not that bright, but stick 2 in a jack-o-lantern and their plenty bright, 4 is like Versailles.

Here's my Lantern that says "Sith" on it. It's illuminated by a 10W Ledengin Deep Red. Man, its bright! But also reeeeaaallly hot when not properly fixed on a heat sink!

Here is the one I made for this year. It took me 6 hours to carve it out and shave it in spots and I made a custom light box for it with a Cree white XR-E LED and custom heat sink for a total of around 200 Lumens. I used a TCSS switch and got a project box from Radion Shack. Here are several different pics of it.
