Wowee, this has been a productive week - I should take off work more often. ;)

This is an accessory for what will probably amount to "just this year's halloween costume"... oh well. :D I have all the clothing pieces for a Dread Pirate Roberts, but I saw this vid:

... And man oh man - the temptation was just too great! :cool:

So I makes one myselfs.
- LEDEngin 5w blue, direct drive - beautiful deep (almost royal) blue
- 0.125" aluminium plate
- 0.875", 1", 1.125", 1.25", 1.375" aluminium tubes
- 1.125" bar (pommel plug over latching switch)
- quarter inch brass bar
- assorted greeblies
- 3" heatshrink tubing

Brilliant. I have a few pieces set aside to do a saber with a wide lip and a knuckle bow, but I hadn't thought to be so literal about the rapier aesthetic. I dig it, man.

How heavy is all that?

It's less than a pound, and the two-finger balance test puts the center of gravity right in the open face of the emitter. :cool:

The only thing I have to add other than it being unique and good work

is... you should go with a 3/4 blade.

the more diminutive a hilt needs a thinner blade to look more ... scale? for lack of a better word...
that and its a rapier crossover.. so thinner would work well

;) Great mind think alike, my good chap! I had indeed intended on a 3/4" blade originally, but opted for the 1" for brightness. The 3/4" still looks good, and in a sense, is more appropriate...

But this is wicked bright! I'mo scur me some trick'a-treaters! Ha-ha! :D
