It could be bad to the electronics, and I don't think it would be really practical, a magnet that would be strong enough to hold the saber would be hard to detach anything from.

It has been done.
I will try and search for the saber, but my search-fu isn't the strongest.

EDIT: It is done in This (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showpost.php?p=159028&postcount=4) thread. ;)

I've seen it done a few times. You'll need a fairly strong magnet, and something for it to stick to. Aluminum parts aren't magnetic, so you'll need something else (steel, iron, etc.) There aren't any ready-made solutions from the TCSS store, but it wouldn't be too hard to whip something up.

I wouldn't put the magnet near your wallet if you have credit cards. The electronics in the saber itself should be safe though.

edit: http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=11581&highlight=magnetic Sunrider's SSR90 has a magnetic belt clip.

Neodymium magnets would work if you use a ferrous metal attachment on the hilt.

i know that im being overly ambitious for my first saber. but then again i have been that way my whole life i always like to start out difficult lol

Well, it's been done with success.
So I would say go for it, it would be nice to see a change from just Covertec ;)

you can get rare earth mags for use in home alarm applications that are drilled out and tapered for a screw to seat in em, and are strong enough to grab ahold of a plate steel thru a leather belt...
