This is my first build...and when I say first I mean first. First time I ever dremelled a sink tube, engraved and will be doing the guts of a saber (waiting for the parts to come)

Going to screw down the shroud to keep it from sliding.

Good start. Make sure to de-burr the sinktube or you will cut up your hand. Your weathering on the BH is nice too.:D

Good first effort - the dremel work will get better over time and with practice.
Keep at it! And listen to LDM about the deburring.

Nice First saber! I like the way you sunk the choke into the sinktube,

You might want to clean up the edges of your sinktube with lines and sandpaper, I had to do that with my first saber. It mkes it look a lot nicer and won't hurt you hand when you are spinning it.

Not sure about CC, but my tongue isn't quite sharp enough to cut sinktube with lies. I find that files work a little better. ;)

hehe...exciting isn't it? Wait till you get it lit up. Etc.

So just have my wife sitting next to me while I do it, or does she actually have to do the sanding herself?

Thanks I have sanded down the edges they just look like crap...heheh I used paint and blotching for the weatherd look. And thanks for the responsed you guys really inspired me to work at it and get better.

No denying it...

Maybe just sand it all that needs to be done and weather the whole saber. Then the imperfections will be part of the saber's charm (says the guy who makes 10 weathered sabers/month )

Oh yeah... don't listen to him. He doesn't know (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=11395) anything (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=10450) about (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=9499) weathered (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=8466) sabers (http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=8405) at all.

K everybody I recently recievedd all my hilt guts (thanks TCSS) and at first attempt decieded to go with a Hasbro board. First it worked but the LED wasnt bright at all...found on the forums that I needed a transistor and power something, tried to install it but the power thingy fried on me (burnt my finger on the blasted thing) and so I decied to go back to basics without sound. But now the whole thing won't light up at all. HELP ME PLEASE

The 'power thingy' fried on you? You may need to pore over the diagrams and read a little further before you attempt to wire for sound.

What is the 'power thingy', and how did you have it hooked up?

But if you wired it all up without sound and the LED doesn't come on or is very dim, you probably blew your LED.

ok good news I didnt burn out the LED this time. Ive used the diagram that CardCollector posted and tried it again and it worked fine. But now its again acting up. I wonder if its the batteries Im using I am using Energizer rechargeable 1.2v batteries in the 4AA battery holder. please let meknow.

Ok found a diagram in the store section but Im confused does all 4 batteries need to be about 6v or will the resistor bring it down like another post http://forums.thecustomsabershop.com/showthread.php?t=10169

I am using a Vader sb with a 4.7 Ohm 3 Watt resistor (as recommended http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/wiringbuilder/wiring.aspx ) or will the overall v need to be higher for the sb and resistor

4x Alkaline batteries = 6v and 4x NiMH batteries = 4.8V, so you have to make sure you are using the correct resistor for the right battery pack.

you are a life saver..so far...taking me to the promiseland. how can I tell the resistor Im using is matching the battery pack....
4.7 Ohm 3 Watt resistor + 4 duracell nimh 1.2v rechargeable batts

You could use the led resistor chart that's on the shops page.

Looks like you figured out the resistor problem?

If you buy a resistor from the store, the closest one would be a 3.3Ohm 5W resistor.

The actual Ohms is 2.71 and Wattage is 1.33, assuming a Vf of 2.9 and 700mA for a Red Rebel Star. I used 700mA, because I understand the reds are current-sensitive and overdriving them is not recommended.

Hey Super Sith you should post a sound clip if you git the sound working now.
:D Im ganna start my first saber build soon, going with a hasbro board and curious to hear it in a metal housing.

Dude that turned out really sweet. I'm slowly falling love with that activation box. darn it now I need to order some.

I failed on the soundboard and since I blew both the led and the speaker I decieded to just go with light up action till I really get the hang of this thing.
