AND ON to my best saber to date.

Starkiller Type saber. Im super happy the way this turned out, it fits perfect in my hand and is weighted perfectly.

LUX 1 RED overdriven
5 degree lens
2 AAA battery holder
ALL PVC body
Custom aluminum graflex type ears, and aluminum rail.
TCSS Latching red guarded switch in pommel
TCSS covertec clip ( not yet installed )
TCSS 36" Trans white 1" thick walled blade w/ mirrored tip
Custom weathering

I wanted sound, but I broke the board taking it out of the "donor" saber
Oh Well

Im still undecided if i should paint the rear section copper like starkiller's actual saber

Good work, glad to see you back in the game.
The bunny ears on that starkiller are a bit on the...uh...tall side though... just sayin' ;)

Hey Tom, how have you been? Awesome looking hilts. Never underestimate the power of the PVC.

Awesome! I'm sure MHS will be very different for you and give you a new perspective on hilt design.

Nice! Good to see you still pushing forward and keeping busy. Looks like the decal turned out good and fits well. The first one looks familiar...even the colours.;)
Am I tripping out or does the blade glow through the PVC where the starkiller chamber would be? If so VERY cool.

that is the good thing about how I build my sabers, my LED is sitting right above where the pommel section and the main body meet, that means the blade sits into my hilt that far. Extra strong! kinda like a samuri sword blade being full tang.

Yes, I sanded the paint away on that section on purpose. Im not to the level of supporting a exposed crystal chamber. Especially the way I make my sabers, that would have only left like 3 inches of the blade to sit into the hilt.
thats not safe in my book. The PVC could snap and no more saber... another reason the blade sits so far in.

long boring story complete...... yes it glows there.;)

Far from boring since the colour of glow makes it look hot. Very nice feature!

They are also too high up on the emitter. There are plenty of Graflex images you could have looked at.

Just sayin'. ;)

Overall, not too bad though.

I do kinda like the faux crystal chamber glow.

I'm in the same boat Tom. I have all the pieces to put my first MHS hilt together. I'm just waiting on one key piece, & that's MHS sleeve material. I've been waiting on that since June. I don't want to use a sink tube on this hilt. I believe I just found another route to go today, so hopefully I'll have my first MHS hilt finished in the next month or so.

Looks great, man...you seriously take PVC to a whole new level ;)

One question: How is the LED overdriven? It says you have a 2-AAA battery holder, so it's getting 3V, yes?

HAVOK

Correct, Im using a Lux 1 Red LED, 2.97v with my 2 AAA setup no need to resistor. I left it on for 3 hours straigt, no heat issues and no power issues. Killed the batteries, put in new ones and lighted right up.

The hilt was a little warm but I would say only as warm as me holding it for a little while.

Simple, cheap, awesome sabers is where its at.

Next is sound. I have a commission to make 3 sabers with sound, Ill post pics when Im done.
