hi,

I'm not gonna lie, after i went to Comic Con in San Diego, i saw what a lightsaber could be. I almost spent $200 on a pre made saber because it was the most perfect thing i ever saw (exaggeration..).

But i didn't buy it instead i decided to try to build my own.....and about a year ago i came across the Custom Saber Shop.... i forgot how but i am sooo glad i did.

MY POINT........

I am sure some other Custom Saber people will be at Comic COn 2006 in San Dieg http://www.comic-con.org/cci/o

Does anyone want to try to organize a Custom Saber Bar Night were you bring your saber and talk shop. Maybe even have a contest..

I think it'd be cool...

Wow i cant believe how fast my thread got killed.

I wanted to organize a sort of homemade lightsaber drinking sharing contest kind of thing.

instead at the other post i was told to say hello to someone at a table,
oh well........

<font size="3"><font color="blue">Most of the people I know who are going that have sabers are still into Parks sabers.

But that will probably change once they see mine and Zhi-Don's LED sabers!

There are also a lot of various dinners and events that people are already planning to go to after the con ends for the day.

This wasn't meant to kill your thread, only to show yout that I had already started one. It still be good to get together to show off sabers and discuss things. This was to show you where at least 2 of us would be at during the Con.

Sorry...no disrespect meant.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote"> It is amazing how many are still in to Parks, when I went to the Sci-Fi Summit in Pasadena earlier this year I took my White Led w/Color Filters and I can't tell you how many people got excited when I told them I made this. I could have taken orders on the spot, but I believe every Jedi must build there own so I offered to help them and told them about the CSS.[8D]

I know when I first was looking for custom sabers, I did a search, and Parks was easily found, I remember when I got on their site, I was captivated by the awesome designs, and the fact you could remove the blade, change the color by putting in a different blade, and duel with them. [:0]
I bookmarked the site, and mulled around on it for awhile, trying to justify to myself, paying them the insane amount of money they want for their sabers. [:(]
Finally, I did a search using a different engine, and I found TCSS, funny, I haven't been back to Parks' website since! [^][;)]

So I guess alot of people must get there, and never question if there's anything better out there, and buy their saber. [:(]

Too bad for them. [:(][V]

i know the feeling, when i showed up with my sabers, and the MR vader i converted, folks went nuts, and started askin me to make them for them on the spot. i too could have had 15 orders that first day, and did sell the mr vader the 2nd day, whisch is as of yesterday, in the hands of its new owner in colorado. so yeah, i knew the folks round here didnt know any better than MR's, and didnt know what they could be converted into. i have an offer still goin by the guy who got the mr from me, to purchase any more i can make. i told him it all depends on the base price it costs me to get the saber.

but in all, everyone was totally amazed at the luxeon sabers.

I have some many fellow Lining Up members that all own MR and most of them are completely dark from dueling and I keep sending them here. It's funny but when I built my first 2 El Sabers I was one of the dumb people that bought the How To E-Book on E-Bay for $10.00 and the blade tutorial link was the Thread that Jedi Loreen had posted on Fan Force and then just buy accident I did a L.Saber search and found the CSS. But since then my moto is "CSS except no Substitute". Unfortuanely will not be able to make the Con this year but really looking forward to meeting up with you at next years.[8D]

<font size="3"><font color="teal">I wondered why my ears were burning a couple hours ago. Someone was talking about me!

I really irritates me that people are making money off my tutorial that I wrote for people to use for free. But it's on Google, I guess it's not my fault of people are too lazy to find it, but there are always jerks around to take advantage of people like them.

Tim has improved on my original design (so have I, for that matter), but he gives me my props by having a link to it, even though he has his own simpler photo tutorial here in his forums, and I appreciate that.

The San Diego Star Wars Society made a big group purchase of Parks Sabers a few months ago, so they can have them at the Con.

I laughed when I saw that on their boards. I know my LED saber will blow those EL sabers out of the water. I do have 2 Parks sabers, which I love, as well as 2 hardware EL sabers I've built, but I'm no longer interested in EL sabers, only LED, now. [:D]

While Parks does have some beautiful designs, you have to wait months for one of his sabers. When you buy parts from Tim, you can get much quicker gratification, usually about a week. And it's more that just speed, because you've put your saber together yourself and it's more satisfying.

I think some of those people just may be coming over here after they see my and Zhi-dons LED sabers!</font id="teal"></font id="size3"> [;)]

As Don said, I will be at Comic Con as well as the entire Ultra Sabers crew: Jennifer, Susie, Shane, and Todd. I'm really hoping my application for a California business liscence gets approved soon so I can get a booth. If not, I'll just have to throw a party in my room to show off the sabers. I'll have lots of TCSS MHS sabers, MR converts, and the new sub-$100 Luxeon Ultra Sabers: the Initiate and the Apprentice.

I really hope to see alot of you there and start putting faces to names.

<font size="3"><font color="blue">Hey Alex, if you don't get a booth, how are we going to find you? Does Don have your phone # or anything? He's been talking (or emailing) with you more than I have lately.

I would definitely like to meet you.</font id="blue"></font id="size3">

Damn, Alex, sounds like you're doing quite well for yourself these days. You got a whole team now, a storefront, and 80% of the auctions that come up when I type "LED Lightsaber" into eBay, lol.

I'd like to thank you (along with Strydur and Corbin of course) for helping bring Lux saber technology to the forefront. At the next Brakethru show (www.myspace.com/brakethrumusic), I'll be sporting your t-shirt onstage with pride. Our last gig drew over 700 people, and we've only been together for a little over a year. If you ever see a Ultrasabers shirt on TRL or Fuse you owe me a Darth Maul converted saber, m'kay?

Rock on brother!

And Ryan, you got a deal, bro.

<font size="3"><font color="maroon">You've never been to a Convention before?

Bring your saber, of course, wear a costume, if you have one, which will hopefully go with your lightsaber. [;)]

If you're going for the day, I'd bring my own lunch and some bottles of water, if you don't want to pay for over-priced food and drink at the Con.

A back pack to carry your lunch and whatever swag you collect or purchase. Some people are into posters, so they bring their special tubes to transport them in safely, you'll see a lot of people walking around with them slung on their shoulders.

Comfy shoes or boots are important if you want to be nice to your feet.

I haven't read through that guide posted on the JC forums at TF.N, but I didnt' find the Comic-Con FAQ all that helpful, maybe because I've been there a few times before.

Take a look at the Comic-Con website to get an idea of who's going to be there, what panels or programs you might want to attend, and what Vendors you might like to visit and where their booths are.</font id="maroon">
