I.D. of 3 in Fluted Extension?

I am extremely interested about this, because I am wondering about the fit of a x4 AA battery holder in it. I know that it will not fit in the Ribbed V-Groove style extension, so I hope to place it in the Fluted extension. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
